worn out gauge glass chrome rings

the chrome rings around the stock gauges always seem to be faded pretty badly with the chrome worn off. has anyone tried to just paint the rings black? i'm wondering how it would look.

if u polish them w/metal polish the chrome will come off and expose the black underneath, so no painting neccessary

Yeah, didn't someone post pics of their "blackened" gauge rings here a year or two ago?

I think "Bill M" did a writeup on chrome rings. Try a search under his name.

Sorry, those rings were for the din panel mount and would not work on the stock locations. You might be able to find some chrome rings that would fit over the stock location if you check ebay, etc.

A new gauge glass with the chrome rings isn't as expensive from Ray as you would think
