won't start
My 93 has been sitting alot lately. May I have a problem with the ignition? I need all you guys help so here goes. The car runs fine. I had to push start it the last couple of times to run it. Battery charged. Turn key and all you hear is clicking under the hood. Starter does not energize. I took the starter off and brought it to a friend who works at an ignition shop. He checked it out and it seems fine. Bench tested it and it works. I checked all the fuses and they appear to be alright. My question is am I missing something in between the starter and the ignition, such as another solenoid, etc. Solenoid on starter is new and working. Hopefully for me, someone has encountered the same problem and I can eliminate alot of searching and go right to the problem. Also, is it possible it could be the ignition switch? It operates when you turn to on. All accesories also work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jerry
Do you think it would not have the power to energize the starter at all? I put a battery charger on it and used the 100 amp start mode and it did the same thing, so I don't think it's the battery. But I will check again. If anyone has a workshop manuel it might show a possible problem area in it. Jerry
Mongoose, all accesories do work when key is in on position. Sunroof, windows, radio, etc. Chimes and beeps when key is in ignition and door is open. Everything works as normal except that when you turn key to start the starter doesn't do anything. But it works on a bench test. Hopefuly the manual will help me narrow it down. I don't want the dealer probing around at $50+ per hour. Thanks Jerry

There's a lot of information containing starting problems related to the electrical system. May take a while to get through, but it may have the answer to your problem. Good luck,

Hey, the other day I was looking around my battery area and noticed that the fuse box that runs from the battery post has a fairly thick wire running from it into the wiring harness. I suspect this is the starter wire. I ALSO noticed it was all corroded and green, not the best for a high current carrying application. Check yours and see what you see. If you pull up the positive connection from the battery, tilt it up and look underneath it, you'll see what I mean...
starter probem
tntjerry,
I recently had the same problem.
Turned out to be my positive terminal attacted to the battery. It was no longer making good contact. It was old, had some corrosin and was cracked. It would not tighten. I replace it with a new terminal. The car is starting fine now.
