maybe mazda will do what nissan did with the 240z someday. If they did, it would more likely be the FB, than the FD though. If I had the money then, I definetly would have picked up a factory rebuilt 240z. If mazda did it now, I would get one for sure!!

That's with the discounts. It's about the cost of a C6 today. The sticker price posted on the first page, in today's dollars, is $52758. So in today's terms, an FD cost somewhere between a C6 and maybe a fully loaded Boxster S.
So let's see a show of hands. And uh, assume the jocks (and ladies) over on the vette board aren't watching. If you could buy an FD or a C6 for the same money today, which would you choose?

You can't campare a 93-95 fd with an 06 Vette....of course the Vette dominates in about every aspect. If you are going to put it in todays dollars and price it at $53xxx, you also need to make todays rx-7. Back in 93-95 I believe the 7 dominated the Vette in about every aspect (w/o looking at stats) so would it be so tough to imagine an 07 rx-7 putting down 425 hp and weighing next to nothing....again dominating the Vette?

Yup, I'd go out and get a loan for one as soon as I could.

I'd get a white 94 with a glass moon roof. Good thing I already got one

The ZR-1 was also around $60-70k back then (add about $30k to the base price of a C4 reference). It was a very limited production car (a hair under 7000 made: reference). Looking at some of the performance numbers, I'm not that impressed. High 12s in 1/4 @ ~110-112 mph traps (reference).

Edit: I didn't get to verify this, but did you know that the FD was Playboy's car of the year in 1993? (reference That's some domination for ya!

The RX-7 (with an LS6) still dominates the Vette today!

Just because Chevy has moved on from the LT1 doesn't mean I can't...

And all this BS about removing the soul, if you get a heart transplant, are you a different person ? No you're the same guy with a new lease on life...

I'd had it with rebuilds every 18 mo. so instead of giving up and kicking her to the pasture, I gave her a new lease on life... would you rather see 1 less FD on the road or 1 more with LS6 ?

This is not meant to start a flame war, just a thought. I have my preference, and you have yours. I still respect and love what people do to rotaries, I've personally, just moved on...

February 1993 issue, has a two-page color spread (no pun intended) of a silver Touring model.

For those that don't read the articles: Stephanie Seymour on the cover, Jennifer LeRoy on the centerfold

If you geta heart transplant you are not removing your "soul" you are removing your heart. If you were rebuilding every 18 months then maybe you should be asking yourself questions, what do the peripherals of the engine look like, coils, wiring harness, fuel pump etc. If one of your peripherals was in bad shape no wonder you would be killing engines.

Also, I would rather see 1 more vette on the road than 1 more V8 FD on the Road.

Again preference and opinion of mine.

BTW I like how in the picture posted of the window sticker it says average cost of fuel 1000$ per year. I think that is like maybe 2 months of gas for me.....

Get a new wife....j/k (sorry)

I really don't know if I would. I have been a fan of mod'ing. So, to buy a brand new car and then mod the living crap out of it might not be the most effective use of funds. Also, depreciation on a car is pretty significant, which has always stopped me from ever buying a brand new car.

Oh hell, if I had the money, I would buy a 95 black R2, and then spend another boat load of cash in modifications, so the upgrades would match the odometer.

let's see 52K for a 255 HP car that will have a ton of problems, not a chance. But for 35k sign me up!

At 35k maybe but that Evo and Sti is a ton of car and the GTO (R.I.P) would probally get my money. For mid 50s not a chance. M3 or S4 for me and if I happened to be lucky that day Cayman S.

I dunno if I want Mazda to sell new FD's... I must admit I once thought it was a very good idea, but if they do sell brand new FD's just imagine driving around and seeing another FD every 5-10 seconds (like the RX-8's, 350z's)

i think maybe if it was the 99+ spec ones it might be worth close to 40k, but the I agrre with the comment about the evos and sti, and even all the other newer sports cars, 350z, and such.
