wiring problems
Right now my car seems to be stumbling and not running smoothly. I found out that when my FMIC was installed that the person who welded it had welded some wires, by being too close to them.
The wires in question are right by the headlights on either side. it looks like there are about 50 wires that run through there.
Now when i start the car normally it goes to about 2000 or so because the aws is unplugged and venting, i kick the gas for a sec and then the idle goes to 1000-1500rpms. The car acts like it is going to die and go to 1000 and then jumps back up to 1500. The radiator fans do not come on unless the headlights are up and on. I can run the fans through the diagnosis, so i know the relays are not blown. i checked the fuses under the dash, and underhood, they seem alright so nothing is blown.
I have taped off the wires that seem to have been affected by the massive welding mistake. does anyone else have any ideas as to what wires could be affected by this?
Also when the headlights are on the idles goes to 2000rpms and does not bounce around?
I bought an alldata and am trying to figure out what might be wrong. So if you have some input any is good. Thanks a lot

Try tuning your idle down a little and see how that pans out. As far as the fans turning on with the lights you just have to take the time to test all the wiring on that one. If it where me I would make them pay for someone else to fix that.

my idle is as far off of the throttle as possible, im going to just have to check and re check all the wires for the fans? it just doesnt make sense that when an electrical load is put onto the car it makes the idle go to about 2200...
im going to adjust my tps tomorrow and see what happens...

New problem
Alright new problem....i went to go unhook the ecu and my radiator fans just turned on? the air wasnt on at all. they would not shut off, unless i unplugged the battery. Now when the car is on the dashlights for the odometer and everything are fine, then when i put the headlights on the dashlights all kicked on but the lights got dimmer. Im getting the proper approx 14v from the battery to everything? ]
Im stumped as to what might be wrong.
Could my ECU be bad? or a short somewhere?
Help please.

If your unplugging your ECU with the battery hooked up the welding screwup isn't the only problem your going to have. You don't go ripping parts out of your computer with it turned on why would you unplug anything from the cars ECU with the battery hooked up ? ? ? No telling what happend if the guy actually touched the wires with the welder, surprised it runs at all if he did.

well im swapping out the ecu so if it is fried then im sure this will be alright. its possibly only the tps because all bucking and everything else has stopped. my radiator fans wont turn on so im guessing that it is just the switch which activates it to turn on. relays are fine. when the tps is unplugged it ran at around 3000 and now its doing the same thing. and my check engine light is on for codes 12 and 18 leading to full and narrow. so i will pick up a tps possibly or fix the connector that goes to it. i am reading... 0 .08 5.12 4.66 on the wires top to bottom for the tps. this is with it unplugged and just testing the connector itself.

Plug the new one in with the power on and you'll never figure out what's wrong. Hope you fixed any wires tha may have been shorted from the welding.

So you think some wires may have been crossed??
someone welding on the car without disconnecting the ecu in the first place is a bad idea.
Dude do not put a new ecu in a car with a suspected wiring problem unless you have fixed the wiring issue first.
if you want to throw money away i have a paypal acct.

well ive traced all of the wires and nothing is exposed anymore, but yet the radiator fans still wont turn on which leads me to belive it is just the sensor/switch for the fans to turn on.
Unless someone else has any ideas?
they are appreciated. im not asking for an exact answer, just something that might be it and i can check different things as well and possibly lead to a solution.

In the idagnostics box there is a place where you can jump "fans" to "gnd" IIRC and they should come on. If not referr to your field service manual for troubleshooting procedures to track down your fan problem.
