Window Tint: Pics of FD's with a particular %
In my quest for a personal answer of whether to tint my FD's windows or not, I thought I would create this thread. I had another thread started and didn't even think to ask for pictures from other forum members. Here is the old one.
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...highlight=tint
This new thread will essentially serve as a dual purpose.
1. To help others in the future to decide on not only whether to tint or not, but what percent to go with.
2. Help me decide once and for all!!..lol
So please, post pics of those beautiful tinted FD's and give us the percent used.

Legal limits in my State....minimum of 35% light transference on front side windows (not including OEM tint)....

And minimum 20% light transference on rear window (not including OEM tint)....

Appologies for large second photo. For some reason re-sizing wouldn't work.

Sorry, I don't know the exact specs on the tint. I only know it as limo tint and it is quite dark. Sometimes at night, I have to roll down the windows before pulling out into traffic or turning corners. Even though, on a black car, I love it and wouldn't have any less.

Thanks!
That means a lot coming from a guy with a car as nice as yours.
The drivers and passenger's windows are 35%, the rear is 20% and the windshield (I know, I know) is 75%. The numbers represent how much light the tint lets through.
He talked me into doing the windshield because it's not very tinted at all, but the tint cuts 100% UVA and UVB so it'll hopefully help save the dashboard. Plus, I think it looks kinda stealthy.
Pics to come. Damn this monsoon.

^I think many/most States prohibit tint below the AS-1 line. In my State a professional installer could be fined for that.
I understand about the UV concerns though. I carry around one of those collapsable windshield shades. It's a bit of a hassle but I've gotten used to it.
Nothing much special, just a stock-bodied car, but thanks.
For others contemplating window tint...another a nice side benefit of tinting the rear window is that at night the head-lights (especially from trucks and SUVs) don't cause you to reach for sunglasses anymore.

I have tint on a BrilBlack FD at 30% all around (sides and back). Unfortunately the car is on stilts right now (mod time
) so pictures are hard to get that give it any justice, but I will say 30 all around is great for day time and night driving. Anything more becomes difficult to see at night IMO.

I just stripped the old tint out of my FD last week to re-tint it here soon. I am pretty sure I will be going with 20% all the way around. It is not too bad to see out of at night, blocks a lot of harmful rays and makes it difficult to see into with the collapsible windshield screen up while parked.
Scrub, beautiful car man. I almost canceled my order on that hood (backordered AGAIN, this time til June) but that pic just refired my desire for it...
Lol it's kind of ironic to see this post up after the ordeal I just went thru last fall. I had 20% rear and 35% on the sides and got stopped by the popo saying it was too dark. To make matters worst it was raining that day too so the tint looked even darker. I got a $200 fix it ticket. At the time I didn't know that the legal limit for my state was 50% all the way around. Had that tint on my car for 5 years without no problems and out of the blue that cop just pulled me over. So now I'm tintless and I feel naked
I have 20% Ceramic all around. It looks a little darker then normal 20% looking in, but looking out looks exactly the same as normal 20%. Its quite easy to see out at night.

not sure the % because i just asked for a "medium darkness" when i got it done. i have no A/C so this helps with interstate driving...one window down, one window up, sunroof cracked = nice and cool!
