Question window switches

so I have just recently aquired an issue with my driver side switch, the lever that is used to roll the drivers side window up and down no longer works and for quite some time now the pass. side switch will not roll up the window only down. I have seen many complaints about this on the forum and multiple members looking for replacements in the FS section. I realize that the price of the driver side is 220.00 to replace on the '93 and 80.00 on the pass. side for a FD. I did a search though on e-bay for Mazda switches and multiple came up but none for the FD. I am curious though, why is it that you can get a switch for a '93 MPV or '92-'97 MX-6 for anywhere from 10-40.00 and they have basicly the exact same harness, conector, and size as the one for the FD. Are any of these switches interchangeable with our cars? the only real difference I am seeing here is the cover which is easily removed and looks as though it will fit over the MPV or the mx-6 switch. I am just looking for an ideal alternative that is more bank friendly with greater availability as I need both the driver and pass. switch. I just was courious as to whether this has been tested or not.

Get the driver switch from a '94 and up rx7. It has the "one touch down" feature and it's cheaper too.

Most switches of that type can be taken apart and cleaned. A simple cleaning should have it working as good as new.

yeah, cleaning has worked before, but now the button that controls the driver side is actually out of place, almost like a pin or piece of plastic has broke. I have taken it apart a few times and there are so many little springs and pins, I am afraid to loose them, and they are hard to get into place while putting the switch back together. I am going to just get one for a '94. Are there any places that anyone has seen them going cheaper than the above prices?

For those reconditioning there switches dont forget the dielectric grease as it helps in lubing the moving parts but also is used to hold the ***** and springs in place when reasembling! Tweasers are a plus too. Have fun.

Ray Malloy Mazda sells them for $140.00, I got the same problem, just the passenger button on the main module is broken right on the pivot section. The passenger side still works.

I'm still looking for a cheaper replacement,

Call him, maybe he'll give a discount if both of us do one purchase?
