That is a bit of a different scenario... an AST is not as cosmetic as a window switch. An aftermarket AST which works, doesn't make the engine bay look like crap... a home-made window switch probably would make the interior look bad however.

& I agree that this forum is too quick to 'flame' on someone... but really, in the grand scheme of things.. FD owners should expect to pay $$ to keep their cars looking nice. "You gotta pay to play" after all...

Not really a valid comparison.....people get the alum ASTs to eliminate a potential failure point. There's nothing wrong with a window switch that lasted 14 years, and there aren't any upgrades that I'm aware of

^^Though I promised I wouldn't say any more, I am not sure that 14 years is the relevant measure. Most of these cars are relatively low mileage and therefore the switch is not used as often as in a typical daily driver that's been around 14 years. I have driven two Toyotas well past the 200,000 mark without electric window switches failing (in fact they never failed). I have not made it past the 100,000 mark, however, in either of my 7s without these tabs failing. That said, there has been way too much flag waiving about a silly window switch repair. And I agree it hardly sits on the same scale of importance as an AST. It was merely something I tinkered around with and fixed. Its clean and reliable. Use it, scrap it, make up your own mind.

Resoldered mine to operate both windows at the same time. Ya I'm cheap, but it's a race car.

MX3 switchs are the same thing. Call your local salvage yard, or check Ebay. There's a couple on now.

Funny thing, this is what I just spent a $100.00 budget on. Plus a used JIC exhuast, but that took a lot a months of savings. I owned the car for only five years now and have not had as near as many problems as most this forum. I am not rich and am a college student (which is a big no no I remember). I really like this car and honestly the two time I got frustrated and tried to sell, each time I withdrew. I dont know why, but can not imagine driving anything else.

I understand both points of view. Thanks you guys for all the imput.
