Will your engine last longer if you don't boost to often???
I was just wondering.... because I use my baby as a daily driver. I heard that NA RX-7's engine lasts really long.. like 200,000 miles if you take care of it right. and the reason our engines don't last that long is because the turbo's are gradually killing the poor motor.
So in theory if you don't boost very often will our motors last just a good the NA's?
Another question is... so... if i'm not boosting much can I run lower octane gas to it? like....89?
i never really boost the car unless I really have too!!!
Like... cutting people off on the highways and going on off ramps....
anyways.... any idea helps~~
Thanks!!~~~

Yes, less boost generally means longer life for the heat-sensitive components like the coolant and oil seals. However, the turbos are always attached and retain some additional heat the NA's don't see.
Running lower octane is a bad idea since it increases the possibility of detonation and busted apex seals.

Mine are non-sequential twins~~~
and... why would they lock up just because you don't boost them??? Don't they spin all the time anyways? Even when we are not boosting the turbins should still be spinning.

you mean to take real good care of... not abuse the **** out of it and hope this small engine will push 900 plus HP on a 1.3 liter.
I really love this car... I just want to know how to make this last for a daily driver.

You should take the car up into the high rpm's every once in awhile to clean out carbon deposits and such out of the trailing plug hole. That, and why own a car with TWO turbos and not want to use EITHER of them? That is just a plain old big *** waste of money IMO.

WTF!!!! Just drive the friggin car. When she dies, she dies. It's not the end of the world. Engines run 2K to 6K depending on your mechanical abilities.
Have fun drive often
