Exclamation Will a small hole make the engine Overheat!!

After i rebuilt my engine i check the water level and oil daily before i go out.

Just today when im checking the water level, i found that there is almost no water and i had to fill it up as it was missing a lot of water. After a 3 or 5 miles trip the car started to overheat by almost touching the H letter at the gauge.

When i opened the hood i found that there is a small hole at the black hose going to the radiator and its leaking a lot of hot air and there is almost no water!!

The Question, well that hole cause all these water to be missing?? or is it something else? i gues there is also a few leeks from under!!

well if it is leaking water out it will over heat. Meaning when the system try to pressurize it will leak it through that hole. Replacing the water with air making it over heat even faster.

Just to make sure you are aware.....filling a FD with water is quite a chore. You can't just put water/coolant into it once. There is a 'burping' procedure that must be done to get all the air out of the system. This takes time and patience but is essential to avoiding overheating. Once you get that hose fixed, make sure you 'burp' the system good.

if your stock gauge moved to red, your motor might be gone
