Will a mild street port cause an engine to run lean?

Hey guys, i tried to search but i couldn't find any information to help me, so...

the previous owner of my FD said he performed a mild street port on the engine. will this contribute in any way to the engine running lean and/or detonating?

if this is true, are there any ways to prevent the engine running too lean and detonating aside from modifying or buying a new ECU?

thanks!

I wouldn't think so, unless you've got some boost control issues. Are you having detonation problems, or are you just worried that you might?

Any other mods on the car? The rest of the mods on the car would moreso contribute to detonation than the streetport. A bone stock car with a street port would be mighty safe, IMHO.

the car hasn't detonated yet, but i'm afraid it might, as i haven't installed the boost, water temp or a/f gauges yet

anyways, the only mods on the car are the mild street port and an hks downpipe

If the only mods are ported motor and a downpipe, you should be alright with stock fuel and ECU

I have a street port, full exhaust(HKS HI-Power), intake, etc...basic stuff. My engine seems to run real lean and i backfire almost everytime i press the gas hard. I also have the japanese spec turbos. No boost control or afc. The idle is a little funny too. It hasn't been tuned yet, but only because I'm looking into having it taken to Ultimate Racing in Toronto for a single turbo upgrade.

Yes- it will run lean. How lean depends on the size of the port.
