wideband o2 placement help W/ PICS!
i know it should go somewhere between 10:00 and 2:00, but i am 160 miles away from my car. Can someone tell me how many inches back from the flange and at what 'clock' it should go to fit under the car correctly? i included a picture with a 12:00 marker (picture view is if you were standing in front of the car looking at the engine/dp)
thanks in advance.

You're asking for a lot when you ask for an exact angular measurement. You really need to have the exact spot on the pipe marked with the exhaust in place to make sure that the O2 sensor will clear all chassis and other parts from interference. That would be very hard for someone to give you as an exact distance and angular measurement. Just what insturment would you use to find the exact angle of the installed O2 on a pipe while laying on your back, under the car?
I put the O2 sensor into the midpipe to achieve the 36" minimum distance from the turbo flange that was recommended by the installation instructions. When I still had the stock cat converter I actually peeled off the heat shield just before the cataliyst body expansion and welded the O2 sensor bung in there.
The reason that they want you to have the sensor in an upright position is that condensation would accumulate in the bung if it was in horizontal or downward pointing position. This condensation would turn to steam on engine startup and destroy the O2 sensor in short order.

well i've done searhces and have seen people mount it 4 inches back from the flange, however i was unsure on if they tilted it toward the pass side or the driver side, i'm just looking for a general area in which the O2 sensor won't hit the bottom of the car.

if i remember correctly mine was about 5*s to the drivers side from the 12 oclock position on top. however, it has to clear the driveshaft yolk and the chassis. so you might want to wait.

I installed my bung at a 12 o clock position. Just in front of my silencer on the midpipe. Try searching as there are some pics of cozmo kraemer's install the same way. It allows you to run the sensor wiring right through the shifter boot. Worked great for me.
