Unhappy Why are my relays clicking(please help)

I was playing around with the datalogit turning the fans on and off with the temp setting, and after doing it 3 times (fans working properly at the specified temperature I had them turn on at) the relays started clicking real fast and turning the main power on and off quickly whenever the fans are supposed to turned on now.
I read something that said that the white 100A main could sometimes be loose when it does this, but I checked it out and it is as tight and has a clean good contact.
Any ideas or has this happened to anyone else that can tell me what’s up?
Did one of the relays go bad or something?
The big yellow one on the driverside is clicking, and #3 fan relay is clicking on the passengers side (lower right of the 4)
Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

I would like to get this sorted out quickly because I am almost done with a complete rebuild and single conversion, and to have this happen when I am a week or two away disappoints me greatly that I might have to wait even longer to get it fired up after all the time spent getting it ready to go.

Well I spent a little time poking around, it seems that I can get the fans to come on if I use the diagnostics box. (tfa and grd i think)
but when the relays open by themselves, they don’t seem to supply voltage to the plugs that go to the fans themselves.

A little tangent, but the reason I was playing around with the datalogit was because I was trying to find out why both fans were coming on at the same time, when I was telling it to only turn the 1st fan on at a desired temp and not the second one. Why would it turn both on instead of just one when it was told to only turn on the first one?

I checked as many things for a good ground as I could including the airbag sensor, but no luck.

I'm also having a hard time with my fans not coming on since the engine rebuild. My mechanic wired something temporary but I need to get them back normally. The only time Ive heard relays clicking like that was when the battery was dying on me or something was grounding out. Make sure you have everything out of the diagnostics box although thats obvious and probably not it.

check the resistance between the relays like it says in the shop manual to totally blame those.

good luck wish I could help

The battery is fine I am sure of that, but yes it is clicking on and off just like when the battery is too low or say the battery is real low and the lights are turned on which I am sure a lot of people can relate to that kind of clicking back and forth of the relays.

Wish some of the old guys were around, they knew this electrical system very well and could probably tell me exactly what went wrong in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the support though guys, I am willing to try anything if you guys have some ideas or can tell me what to look for to help narrow it down.
I am so very lost when it comes to electrical systems

I've never seen my fans operate independently. I've read that they're wired in series, so they will always operate together.

The verbiage used on the Datalogit is certainly confusing. The labels are Fan1 A/C, Fan1 no A/C, and Fan2. I've always assumed that Fan1 and Fan2 refer to low and medium fan speeds, respectively. On my car, the difference between these two speeds is hardly discernable. What I don't understand is why there is a temperature setting for Fan1 A/C. The fans come on high regardless of temp if the A/C is switched on, so this setting seems pointless.

Just an FYI the relays you spoke of are on sale at http://www.mazdaformance.com/rx7.htm under the clearance section for $62.00 (that's about half price of what the dealer sells it for).

Just replaced mine as they were not working correctly after my recent engine work.

Man, I don't think so. I have seen one fan turn on by itself then when temperatures rise above a certain degree or when the ac is on they both turn on.
