why is my oil light coming on?

I changed my oil last weekend, checked it yesterday and it's still full. yet the light keeps coming on arbitrarily, this never happened before i changed the oil so i'm not sure what it could be, as i changed the oil the same way i always do. filter's on tight, the pressure stays between 30-60 as always. If anyone has any idea or something i can try that would be very helpful. thanks

check and clean the connector at the oil pan sender, it probably is all crapped up with junk.

That or broken. This wire frequently breaks off at the sender.

The oil light is a LOW oil LEVEL sensor - maybe you didn't put in enough.

OOPS. SORRY.

Missed that part that he said it is full - but it is a low level sensor, and it's either not working, or the connection is bad, as other posters said.

i'm hoping it's the connection, it'll come on while i'm on the freeway i'll take it out of gear, let it drop back to idle and the light goes away. unfortunately i won't be able to check it til thanksgiving but hopefully it will just be that connection. that light coming on is just annoying though

most likely its the connection, do a wiggle test. jack your car up and have someone in the car to monitor the light while you wiggle the connector to the sender on the pan. I had the same problem and was always worrying like crazy. TUrned out to be the wire broke off.
