Why don't my fans stay on?

The engine fans are supposed to stay on for awhile after the car is off, right? Mine do not stay on. Could this be because the weather has not been very hot and the car is running cool enough that it doesn't have to? Thanks.

No, they're not supposed to stay on. If they do, it means either your car runs hot or something's wrong with the fan system.

...or you've done the fan mod.

I've tried to do it according to http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/ but i think that since I have a reprogramed computer, it won't work for some reason. my switch just turns my fans off/on while running. anyone have a similar experience?

I had a thread about this a while back, it doesn't work for me at all. Grounding that wire didn't do squat on my car. I can hear a click when I ground it (probably the fan relays switching), but it never turns on the fans.

I'm guessing the recall was done incorrectly on my car. Oh well, I'm going to rewire my switch with the oth fan mod technique...

If my car is hot, then my radiator fans will be on if I turn the key to 'I' or 'II', but will turn off when I turn the key to off.

If the car is REALLY hot the fans will stay on for a while with the car off as well.

I am a little confused. what difference would it make if they stayed on? To cool the coolant in the radiator? I suppose this would extend the life of your rad...

I thought there was a recall that made the fans stay on for about 10 minutes after the engine was shut off. This cooled down the engine compartment so everything wouldn't get too hot. It was done in response to several engine fires.

Isn't the fan supposed to stay on for 10 minutes after shutting down? Mine does, whether the engine is hot or not. Is there something wrong with my car?
