Lightbulb Why doesn't anyone make a "cold air" FG or CF replica?

The racing Beat peice is an excellent concept, it's just paper thin plastic that's woth $0.10 instead of $100. Knightsports makes an even better kit but at $800, no one wants to buy it. Is it worth $800, well is M2's box worth $600?

My point: You guys that are making the fiberglass and Carbon Fiber hoods and wings can make these replicas as well, right?

The racing beat peice would be worth $100 if it was fiberglass or carbon fiber.

If the KnightSports replica only cost about $400 and it works better than a wannabe cold air box, then wouldn't people buy it instead?

Mazda's own testing revealed that it isn't a good idea to steal air from the IC. They found that under some circumstnces it would suck hot air from the engine bay through the IC and into the intake. So the Racing Beat duct would have limited appeal, even though it does provide cooler air than most CAIs under many circumstances. You often need to get rid of the stock air box to make room for an IC or IC piping, too.

M2's intake is under $500 now.

yeah true but

that's true and it is redisigned for the '99+ with a seperate chamber for the intake. But I don't think it matters as much as a vented hood does. Besides, the RB part is "no" different than stock other than it provides more air which is good not bad.

Anyhow, there are alot of guys with stock engines. The RB part only opens up the stock intake for more air and it's only $100. The only problem with it is the **** material. It should have been at the least thicker plastic, but better yet why not fiberglass or Carbon Fiber for the same price?

The extra $400+ can be beter spent on a Blitz SMIC or a vented hood. Then down the line, they can decide whether they want a warm/cold air box.

-> My point: If hood replicas can be made then a KnightSports true cold air system replica can be made as well. Wouldn't everyone want a "True Cold Air" system for less money?
