Question Why do my Non-Sequental twins spool like a T-88? :(

I have a newly rebuilt Judge ITO Ported motor (105 Compression both rotors), full 3" exhaust (HKS DP, Rx-7 Store MP, Apexi Dual N1 CB), K&N Intakes. the turbo was ported in the wastegate, prespool and gasket matched to the manifold. I dont see 7 lbs of boost till 4500RPM. I m 99% sure i dont have any vacuum leaks. the car does idle pretty well.

ANY IDEAS WHAT COULD BE WRONG?

oh and I forgot to mention that if i give it WOT and rev it to 6000+RPM when I let off it Smokes oil for 5 to 10 seconds or until I get back on the gas more than 50%. Not sure yet but it seams like it is the oil seal on the second turbo. It does not do it if i give it WOT and shift before 5500RPM or less.

V8 Conversion is looking sooo good LOL J/K!

My non-sequential BNRs give me 10 psi by 4000 and 16 psi by 4500. Not as good as some small single setups, but oodles better than what you're dealing with. Sounds like the motor isnt the problem, so best to leave pistons out of it....consider a different/newer/better turbo setup

My twins had the Pettit 8% increase mod to them and with my self done full non-seq setup would hit 14.5psi by 4500 rpm. Either your non-seq setup is not well done or your turbos are weak.

I now run the A-Spec GT35R T3 setup and hit 15.5 PSI at 3600rpm.

I want a single Soooo bad! I was eyeing the GT35R kit in a T4 Footprint but now that I see the 500R, it really seams like a soar Dick, you can't beat it.

Damn chuck, that is some great low rpm boost response. I have been thinking of setting up the BNRs in sequential form, i just wonder how top end power i will lose.

I plan to go back to the dyno with the current setup and see if the turbos will put down 450, I am sure that the custom rear turbo inlet pipe I got from you will help

Bryan (BNR) told me got about 15 psi at 3800 rpm on his Stage 2s, which is what I will be running (very shortly), as soon as he sends it back to me

he also said he made 412 rwhp and 360 ft-lbs at 17 psi on the Stage 2s

what exactly are the stage 2s? with the 'old' bnr naming scheme they were larger compressor wheels without the dynamic seal. with the new turbos, as far as I know there are only the stage 3s available......

ecarver, can you explain the location of the ground you were missing? hell, maybe I am having the same problem

You may want to consider the newer version, for all of the benefits listed in the thread. You're getting new CHRAs instead of rebuilt turbos.

in hindsight, I prob would have gone single or the new stage 3s, but I got a pretty good deal on these and I'm already well down the path

hopefully I can at least get in the 370 hp range with good torque #s, that's all I need/want

rich,

I relocated the battery to the back and the ground wire was attached from the battery to the rear strut tower bar on top of the bar. apparently the bolts float between the hole and thats exactly what it did, over the corse of a few weeks it eventually lost contact witht the hole arround it.

I just had a sinilar problem with mine in nonseq. form not spooling until after 5 grand. It was the precontrol flapper not tied off. the previous owner said it was welded... which it wasnt. check your seq-to-nonseq. conversion... make sure its all done right. mine working correctly now with a 2 mm leak from a warped manifold (between turbo and motor) still spools all the way before 3500 rpms.

That is an extremely bad choice for your main ground wire placement. I also have my battery in the back, and am using a thick (1 gauge i think) cable that runs underneath the carpet and is bolted down to the chassis. I also cleaned off the paint at that point so it is a metal on metal connection. You can experience severe problems from a bad main ground/bad power lead to your battery, to include ruining your alternator, ignition amp, and popping a motor. Just some friendly advice

well im not going to sit here and bad mouth someone like judge ITO (especially

because hes on the forum) but.... i will say ive been working on rotaries for a long

time now and have seen a few of the judges motors.... and yes he is a good RACE

ENGINE builder! his motors have NO longevity, the ports are too big and yes they

commonly hang side seals because of it period! and dont get me started on the

way that he runs his business.... i guess to each his on but i would NOT recommend

his motors to anyone at least not for street use! (IMHO)

I see 8 psi by 3000 RPM and 15 psi by 3600-3800 rpm with my stock twins converted to non-sequential the Po' man's way.

Wow, that sounds pretty good for the poor-mans NS. Hopefully I see similar results when I try it out. I'm trying the easy way first to see if I can live with NS lag, then when I have the twins off to port the wastegate I can do the full conversion.
