why do most guys remove the fog lights???

I was wondering why most of the fd's have there fog lights removed. They really enhance the appearence and diffinently improve the already so poor lighting on the road, so why are people removing them???

In my personal opinion, I would remove the fog lights just to make it look more like a hardcore sports car, and besides, I hate those people who use fog lights even in best weather...They are sooo annoying!

factory fogs dont do jack for night time visibility nonetheless in foggy weather. they also block air from entering the front air dam which is why many people take them off.

I personally don't like the way fog lights look on an FD. I just feel it works for some cars, but not on an RX-7.

Yup, there be a difference...fog lights are the extra-annoying bright lights you see coming from the grill, and driving lights are the tame ones slightly above it

Lots of people remove them after they've been ravaged by rocks and the like. Lights that sit closer to the ground tend to get really torn up due to the road grime and rocks and stuff. I really want some good driving lights to supplement the crappy headlights. It's a low priority though since it's my second car

getting annoyed by fog lights is SOOOO incredibly retarted!!

If you dont like them, you dont like them,
whatever,
but getting annoyed by other people having them?

they arent bright enough to physicaly annoy your eyes like high beams or something, so the only thing left is
"everyone should be like me" thinking.

sheesh

I replaced my factory fogs cuz they sucked. The weather had beaten at them and they were so dull i might of just put a gas lighter up there. I personally did not go with a "fog light" replacement and went for the round catz driving lights. They look so nice, are very light, not bulky light the stuck ones, and do not stand out that much. They dont have that great of distance projection but seem to light up all that i would ever need to see closer to the car. Turns are a lot easier now cuz of the side projetion and all around, i love em. The car looks like a little devil when the lightslight up the red front air dam. I get scared . aight. maybe i'l put up some pictures later if i get time.

I do in some cases, but not in all cases. I think they look Okay, but some of them just have to go. It depends on the whole package.

If you want luxury crap, get a Mercedez sports car, not an RX-7, period.

Luxury?
I suppose it's a luxury to be able to SEE better?

While true, the factory fog lights are not that powerful, a brigther set IS designed to effectivly cut through fog. I'm going to be upgrading to some form of driving lights, soon, though. The FD is my weekend car, and I usually don't have to drive it through dense fog. Besides, fog isn't too much of an issue in my area.

The base and R1 did not come with fog lights. For all the work Mazda put in to making the car light, these things are as heavy as bricks. I bought a set for my base FD, but they are so heavy\large that they are still sitting in a box...

When I bought my FD, the previous owner had a set of PIAA lights on it. they lit the road up better than the normal beams! and didn't shine into anyone else's mirrors. seem to be light wieght too. however, a rock took out the passenger side lens, so now I am probably going to remove them. but the PIAAs were nice.
