why do most FDs sound wierd when they start up????

I have noticed for a while now and lot of FDs and even some FCs sound wierd when they start up. Like they dont want to start or like they have trouble starting up?
Thats the problem i had with mine and just recently it has gotten even harder. is it spark plugs? starter or alternator?? Yesterday i had to crank on the car for a while and kept the key turned on the start part for a while before the car wanted to stay on by itself.
I was thinking about buying a new alternator and starter to see if this would solve the issue but i just now though about spark plugs. Would this help???

Thanks
Saul V

Most likely flooding and/or low compression. New spark plugs might help, and would be a cheap first step to take.

Low compression comes from worn seals. It pretty much guarantee's a rebuilt engine.

I would try to pinpoint the problem using the cheapest, easiest to do methods first, rather than plunking down the cash on a new alternator (just check the voltage), and starter (if you have to knock it to start, then I would replace it, etc). You should only replace things if you know they are the problem, otherwise, you may be spending money that you don't have to.

check your positive battery terminal... mine was a little loose and caused my car to crank a few more times than necessary
