? Why did Mazda change Min. compression in 94

I was wondering why Mazda changed the minimum compression from 6.0kgf/cm2 in 1993, to 7.0kgf/cm2 in 1994.

Is it because they found that motors were blowing even with compression numbers in the mid and high 6's. So in other words they (Mazda) under estimated the minimum compression.

Or is there another reason? Any ides?
