a whole lotta shaking going on...

On my second run at a local auto cross, coming into the straight it sounded like I ground gears...but didn't. I maintained a little power in higher RPMs...but still not good. Now at idle I sputter around 500 RPM and my boost guage is flipping out around 10 psi of vacuum (vs 16 normal). I have almost no power under 3 grand and a fraction of what I have normally over 3, but it sounds normal in the higher RPMs. I checked all the vacuum lines, checked the map sensor, checked the plugs. Please tell me I didn't lose a rotor...There was no smoke but I do have some oil in the intake (found it when I pulled the manifold to check the lines). Keep in mind I have no local shop help as they don't have many 3rd Gens in Italy. If it was a Fiat I'd be in there!

whole lot of shakin'

sorry to hear of your troubles, i used to live in livorno and know of only one mazda shop. it is located in grosseto which is approximately 2 hours south of camp darby. about 4 years ago they had a mechanic that knew a little about the rotary but can't be sure if he is still there. good luck with your problems........however.............a little oil in the manifold is not a problem.......provided its not a lot. check your oil and see if you have any coolant in it. next thing is to check the compression of each chamber. i think 7 or better is ok......anything lower is a bad sign.

stationed at aviano?
