I know several guys have replaced their FD with an MKIV, but I'm just curious who has replaced their MKIV with an FD.

Ray at PFS use to have a Supra... sold it then got his RX-7... but it's pretty easy to figure out why he'd have a 7 considering where he works.

I'm actually looking for a Supra Twin Turbo right now. There is no way I'm going to sell my RX-7, I just want two sport cars.

If someone offered me a 2002 Toyota Supra TT and a 2002 Mazda RX-7 Spirit R, I'd take the 7 any day! A Skyline is another story...

I'd look for a C-5 Corvette way before I'd ever consider a Supra. And just how many Supras are twin turbo / manual trans. anyway? A lot of what I've seen are autos or naturally aspirated.

Damn Supras keep going up in price like a mother. If it wasn't for that I would purchase one. I mean those things can make well over 800 rwhp on stock internals. Definetially the most potenntial out of all the other japanese supercars. Too bad it looks like someone wiped poop all over it and then licked it off with their tongue only to find out that the front and the *** switched places .

Amen. I think Supras Mk IVs are ugly. Fat *** rear end and mediocre lines. When it first came out, I thought it looked like a prelude on steroids. On a scale of 1-10 its looks are a 5.

Agreed, but that is par for the course for Toyota. They are never the first company to come out with anything new, just their own version of other cars visually. Maybe they don't like to stick their neck out too far until they know the market is safe enough for something of their own, who knows. You have to respect Mazda for this, they don't make near the revenue of Toyota but they are much more original most often. The RX-7 has a definite lineage as well, lines that you can trace from generation to generation. The Supra had good lineage; from the 2000GT, to the MKI, then the MKII, and the MKIII.. they all seemed to have certain similarities about them aesthetically. Then came along the MKIV, sure it still had an I6, a back seat, and turbos but it sure was something new. Hmmm.. the 300Z, 3000GT, and the 7 were all out by then.. at least they are darn reliable though.

You aren't. I can't stand their styling interior & exterior. I even sat in one for almost 2 hours TRYING To like it. I didn't want to drive it because for WHAT if I can't stand how it looks.

I BOUGHT AN RX7 TODAY! The guy who sold it to me had a N/A MKIV in his garage (supra was his brother's)... I walked over and looked at it and almost puked. The intior is ugly. The outside is alright but I don't like the headlights.

There were actually more TT MKIV's made than N/A....it was a ratio of around one N/A for ever 3 TT's.

as you can see, MKIV Supras, regardless of the transmission, trim level, and the fact that they were run for 3 more years than the RX-7, are much more rare than the FD.

I wouldn't call 13,000 much more then 7,000.
In fact I see way more Supra's be it TT or not then I ever see FD's.
I can't believe that they sold less Supra's (including the Pu$$y NA version) all together then they sold FD's in 3 years!!!
Why didn't Toyota pull the plug sooner???
I bought an FD to go along with my FC.
And while Supra's are nice cars and make good some really nice dyno numbers, they aren't my cup of tea. Hence why I drive an FD.

I don't think anyone will argue about the looks inside or out of either one.

Hey Joe D,

Thanks for the stats. They were very informative. I think they help make my point. If my math is correct, only about 36% of the Supras sold in the U.S. were twin turbo manual transmission cars.
