Who Needs Wax ;) (pics inside)

Hand rubbed my car Sunday. These are not the best pictures, but they will give you some idea. It made a pretty big difference and added a lot of depth to the paint. I couldn't believe how many flaws were in the paint from the factory, but then again, flourecent lights show any little flaw there is.

Rotaree: How long did it take you to do it-and what products did you use?
I had some slight scratches in my clearcoat from some schrubs and I took them out with some 2000 wet sandpaper then used 3m rubbing compund by hand then some polishing compund- and damn my rear quarter panel looks f***ing beutiful- now I want to do the whole car (by hand, the machines take it off too fast) so I was wondering how long it took you cause that rear quarter took me about two hours- and I was thinking that doing the whole car would take about 2days by hand- Anyways take some pics of it out in the sun-and then post them back up- I have some swirl marks that I need to get rid of-the car is black and they shoe up like a bitch in the sunlight-
Good Job!

Sucks that the pictures I posted didn't work, but oh well. I used 3M Hand Glaze. Stuff is a biotch to take off, but works like a charm. I don't need wax or anything like that, my car sits in the garage 99% of the time so it is not exposed to the elements. The worst part about cars, as you will see if you do this, is the hood. The whole car took me about 6 hours. Time well spent.

just a general FYI. 3m has a great rubbing compound that doesn't contain abrasives. It's supposed to work by chemical reaction. Pretty nifty stuff.

The 3m hand glaze is great if you can keep it from smearing. Also it is only good for 1 wash and you have to do it again.

Like I said, it's a PITA to take off. Smudges result from warm paint, exceptionally hot or cold wheather and humidity. The glaze will stay on for more than 1 wash, although it, like you implied, it is not permanent. The stuff is great, it is what many family and friends use on their show vehicles, all of them in the automotive business. Many of these same people have never, ever used any type of wax on their vehicles and the finish on them is astounding. I would probably, however, use a Zaino product if my car were exposed to the elements, as the glaze does not offer any real protection.
