Who to have Rebuild my Engine?

i'm going to have my engine rebuilt very soon.. because of an o-ring failure.. i'm thinking about going with the people at rx7.com to have it done.. anyone ever had a rebuild done by them? or have any suggestions for a rebuilder?
thanks

If you are planning on having someone do the removal and install of the motor, then I would have a local builder/installer do it. It can be quite a pain in the *** if you have to ship out motors and deal with complications that may occur after the install. Post in the East Coast forums to see who is a good rotary builder.

i was planning on shipping my car to the garage that rx7.com owns which is located in texas.. they only do the work inhouse.. they rebuild and install the motors themselves.. its the only way they do it.. anyone ever had the work done by them?

Do it yourself or send it off to Gotham Racing in Dallas. I have yet to hear one bad thing about their service or motors. Of course, I have never herd anything bad about Jason either. Im sure you will be fine either way.

Rotorsports here in the Charlotte area did a great job installing my reman engine, and I think they only charged a couple hundred to do the vacuum lines while they were added (plus a new clutch and a bunch of other crap).....anyway, they did a good job

http://www.rotorsportsracing.com/ talk to Bryan

btw Chris Rogers (mr rx7tt ont he forum) did the street port

one of the DC guys is shipping his car off to Gotham. If you can wait until the fall when race season dies down. Reactive Racing in Chantilly VA is supposed to be superb. If you just want a straight rebuild, then the best place to buy the Motor is Malloy Mazda in Woodbridge VA....and the two places are close together so it wouldnt be a big deal...Malloy (from what I have heard) pays for shipping both ways and their rebuilds are around 2 grand.

My car is at KD Rotary right now. I love them. They have treated me very good so far and they aren't far off from you so I would recommend atleast giving them a call.

If you don't want a ported motor or new turbos or any of that then I would just get a stock reman from Malloy.

Sorry, havent been there yet, but thats what the searches have said. Anyway, from what I hear he is extremely busy right now so it would be tough to fit anyone in until things die down.

If it's gonna go to texas go to RX7.com, if it goes east coast Look up Ito or Dee, I say stay as close to home as possible. Pineapple isn't too far from you spend time on the phone with all of them listen to what they have to say, or say about each other then make a judgement on who sounds most knowledgeable and honest, a lot can tell you about a builder by the way he speaks of others.

Do it yourself. If your new at porting send you housings out to get ported. Get yourself a rebuild kit from http://www.rotaryaviation.com/ and a rebuild video.

**** em. Rent or make a engine hoist and close your hood. Car will look super jacked up front. Take the engine into you place. Throw a tarp down and get to work. Or you could do it at a friends house or rent a storage facilty. Has to cost less then shipping your car some place.

They are both good. it's who you feel comfortable with. I'd say send it here, but I am way backed up,
also be careful if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

correct me if i'm wrong, but during an R/R don't the vacuum lines need done anyway? if so a couple hundred dollars sounds like you got the short end of the deal.

when i went through this ordeal i had my engine built/ported by pineapple. if i were to do it again i would build it myself, save some money, and learn a lot in the process.
