Last November i had saved up for a full ported rebuild, so i brought the boost up to 14 and started driving hard and everyday to work to give me a reason to put my FD under the knif, however, almost a year later and almost 20,000 miles more on the engine i have only had one problem, a coolent leak that was fixed with a $70 hose.

Like many others have said take care of it and tune it properly it will be just as reliable as your honda was.

I've daily driven mine for nearly 4 years now. I have mild streetport, apexi power fc, nonsequential turbos boosting 12psi, 3" downpipe, highflow cat, m2 exhaust, m2 large smic, koyo racing radiator, turbo xs rfl bov, and turbosmart mbc as far as engine mods go. I have driven it to Miami and back twice (2000 mile round trip), to Houston and back twice (900 mile round trip), and to Atlanta and back once (1300 mile round trip) as well as other small roadtrips. I'm currently waiting for my 1200cc injectors to come in so I can install them and then get a tune for that. I perform regular maintenance and my baby has been taking care of me.

I wouldnt dream of DD my FD........

.... not anything to do with the car, it's just I work in a **** part of town where it's deemed socially acceptable to shoot up crack on a tuesday morning. I opened the back door of my work the other week to find two charming young ladies squating doing there business all over the back yard and carpark. Granted they where fucked out there brains, but come on.......... it's bad enough having a dog **** on your new rims..... let alone two crack ******!

So no I dont DD my FD.

I daily drive mine, been doing so for a year...car used to smoke when I first started it now its perfect for some reason..

It has been tons of work in this year...i feel like ive had the car my entire life

- replaced front cover gasket
- all reliabilty mods
- new coolant hoses
- ported wastegate
- various coolant leaks
- full exhaust no cats

322rwhp at 14psi w. 2.25inch catback

- had electrical system failure...replaced main portion of engine harness

now the current problem is odometer comes and goes and fan relays stays on so i pull fuse every time i on/off

45k on reman runs strong keep it at 10lbs daily....i think that fds that are daily driven reach high milage than weekend cars to tell you the truth

So you get over 3000 miles to the tank. What's your trick? Must be great to drive it!

i have that problem. I'll be crusing on the freeway at about 3k rpms then it'll just jump up to 7k for no reason then back down. It always freaks me out when it happens but nothing has (knock on wood) came of it.

Wasn't planning on DD mine, but the regular DD was totaled in a storm (hydro locked) so I have been using the 7 for the past 2 months... only thing that sucks is the gas, but been looking for some honduh to save on some gas.

I drive mine maybe 1000 miles per year. Having 2 other cars and a R6 helps though.

93 touring, bone stock DD. She's always been great to me, I had to fix the clutch once but it wasn't that expensive and the last one was 15 years old. Besides that the rx7 is an awesome daily driver if you don't abuse it. I get about 21-24mpg which isn't too bad. 20 bucks gets me around 135 miles. It's easy, when you start it put it in neutral and let it idle at 1krpm before you drive it, and do the same before you turn it off. If you ran it hard and the hood is warm, leave the spare key in the ignition on aux, and the auto exhaust fan will cool it down cold to the touch in a few minutes.

...and don't forget to rev high occasionally!

just curious does anybody have the problem where the car keeps trying to turn its self off until it gets up to temperature!(need to keep the rpm's up or it will stall) or is that just me

im thinking we have to replace the whole gauge cluster to fix it. cause sometimes it gets annoying. if im racing someone i have to look at the power fc commander to shift

i hear its not a good idea to let it go to 1k on start up.. just tap the gas to bring it down back to normal, you dont want to rev up a car that hasnt been cuirculating anything for a day or 2. and i do the same cool down as you when i park in the garage i have a fan blowing to get the exhaust fumes and heat out the garage while the hood is open and the fans are running
