whistling noise?

I have a question, I just bought my first fd3 today .. anyways, at night when im driving i hear a whistling noise, it only does it around idle? But during the day when I dont use my headlights theres no noise. It only occurs when I turn my headlights on? What could this be? Thanks!

can you be a little bit more specific, where is it coming from?

since its at idle, a video of the sound would be helpful for us to further help you.

btw, welcome!!

Do you have pod filters? Or have opened the stock BOV to the atmosphere?

I got that same noise after changing to an open air filter and a downpipe. It has been that way for years with no detrimental effects.

If it's only happening when your lights are on then it could be an alternator/charging system problem. Try putting a larger load on the alternator by turning on your lights, radio, a/c, fan on Hi and see if the noise gets louder. Pop the hood and see if you can pin point it. I had an alternator start making a slight whining/whistling noise and still charged fine but within a thousand more miles or so it got louder and didn't want to charge so well at idle with lights and a/c on at the same time. Rebuilt the alternator and haven't had an issue since.
