Question Where should I look for the short if this is happening...

I have a wierd problem when I take my car out at night. Sometimes when I turn on my parking lights or my lights my seatbelt light comes on and some times even the security light comes on. It doesn't seem to affect anything but it it really anoying haveing a red light on your dash on when it is dark out. Does anybody have any suggestions on where I should start to look.

Just as a sidenote my security system won't come on since my engine was replaced. Does it just work off of the door switches, hatch and hood or could this problem be somewhere else? Could this have something to do with the above problem considering that they all started at the same time? Thanks for all your help.

I just looked at my manual. Seatbelt light ONLY turns on with a signal from CPU No. 2. This CPU also controls the security functions. It ALSO lets off the little beep if you open the door with the ignition off but the lights still on. So I'd start by looking into CPU No. 2. It's located on the drivers side, in the footwell. You have intermittant problems, though, so probably not a loose plug. Yah, I just looked, and the seatbelt light and lights on plugs are different..

These are from section Z-3 of the manual. Happy hunting
