Seems like everyone uses Ray at Malloy Mazda, search and you'll find his number.

888-533-3400, ask for Ray Crowe. He'll give you as good if not better service than Mazdaformance and a fair price.

Another thumbs up for Ray Crowe. He either has every OEM part you'll ever need in stock or will get it for you FAST. Prices are at discount and shipping is fast and great. If you want OEM parts, go no where else.

I haven't checked yet but I imagine he beats Mazdatrix right? I use mazdatrix to get a visual of what I need, but I imagine I'll call Ray with the order.

Mazdatrix works too, but also try your local mazda dealer. The parts manager here gives me good discounts, often lower than mazdatrix. Not to mention you can always work with the parts guys when it comes to prices.

Not to doubt you, but I'd check the discount your guy gives you against the price Ray Crowe gives you. Off the bat, Ray's prices are literally half of what the local stealership charges me. HALF. Can you believe it??

That sounds about right, the prices i pay is about half of list or less. I guess its just really up to the dealer (or parts manager more specifically) how much profit they want to make, or how much they want to help out their customers. Im not sure how the whole parts thing works, but im pretty sure that all dealerships get their parts for around the same cost price, and it is just up to them to mark it up....but i could be wrong

You're absolutely right. The last time I went to the dealer, I asked for the price of a part. The guy looks it up, and the computer screen is angled so I can see it... list says $61 and some change. The guy looks at the screen, pauses for a few, and says "It'll be umm.." (he's thinking)... "around $90some..." Guy's making up the markup as we speak! Right off the top of his head!!

Then another time I went in to buy two parts, $90 each. Total's $180, right? I had bought a bunch of parts that week from the guy, so I was like c'mon man, cut me a break. You KNOW I've bought a lot from ya this week, and you know I'll be back again soon. Help me out here. I SWEAR I walked out w/ BOTH parts for $80!! Imagine what kinda CRAZY markup there already was for him to STILL make a profit at $80 for the PAIR! Yea, needless to say, I haven't bought anything from the local stealership in YEARS

being a parts guy is almost more lucrative than selling the cars.

You just have to know how to play the game. I used to go to the local Mopar dealership for all the parts, lubricants, etc; and ever since my first tiem I'd ask "what they could do on the price", not once was I denied a discount. If you let them know, that YOU know how it works, they'll work with you. I now get things at list price. One time they even tore into a full gasket set to get the intake manifold gasket I needed. I told them I wanted to get it done that weekend.

It's got to be a boring job, so when you go in, make friends with the guy, tell him about your project car and keep him updated. Most of the guys have cars themselves or at least a dream car in mind. I talked Mopar Muscle to the guys and they ate it up. I don't even ask for the discount anymore, they gladly give it to me.

This works with any big purchase in general, only saps pay retail. You can get hundreds off of that big screen you love at Best Buy. They need to get rid of the inventory, and the salesman is willing to give up a little of his comission to give you the discount and get the sale.

Don't hate the system, work it!

No kidding.

I got a quote from a local dealership for an alternator, it was $300 + taxes

I would have wait for them to ship it because they didn't have it in stock.

Malloy's was $240 (along with a $75 core exchange) plus they had it in stock. Even without the core exhange, its $60 cheaper
