Either I am blind, or you didn't include the price in your post, you asked "if this is a good price for the car"

People will need to know how many total miles the car has to determine value, and anything else you know. Paint condition? I think the amount of miles will make it more valuable than if it has a lot of money put into it, which it definately has many thousand of dollars in mods.

First of all, mods don't mean **** to resale value.

What matters to resale value:

*mileage on motor, if rebuilt, how it was rebuilt and who did it
*mileage of chassis
*condition of exterior
*condition of interior
*general mechanical condition of car
*specific model -- R1/R2, base, touring, auto vs manual

We have a buyer's guide in the newbie sticky/FAQ. Please read there.

I bought my car, the ebay title said "Immaculate condition", that was the most untruthful thing I have ever heard. It had 96k miles, it runs very good, but everything else was far from immaculate, the paint was new though. The interior was in average shape, and the suspension bushings were horrible making the car feel and sound like a peice of crap. I had to spend thousands to get it into better condition, even the brakes needed replaced the 2nd day I had it, nothing said about the brakes being bad. So make sure you checkout the car well. Oh and it smelled like gas so bad, the owner said that was normal (I was lucky it didn't catch on fire), until I took it apart and then had to replace the fuel injectors and FPD, no more has smell. I am sure I am forgetting more.

URBANRCR, I'm gonna be 100% honest w/ you. 1) Keep in mind that while you may be able to afford BUYING the car, MAINTAING it is completely different. You'll need to be able to drop 2 grand at any given moment into the car to keep her up and running. And that FD isn't exactly stock. Modded = weak points break easily. I'd say unless you're comfortably sitting on $5K extra, you probably want to get a stock or lightly modded FD, if anything.

Also, have you every driven a high horsepower rwd car? Because if you haven't, no offense to you, but you literally will have a VERY hard time being safe in a car that modded. That FD will be VERY quick, which spells disaster in inexperienced hands. Heck, a bone stock FD requires a lot of skill to handle properly. Those are the facts across the board, not just to you. So just keep in mind that it's not like buying a Civic w/ mods, which takes it from slow to faster. A modded FD takes it from damn fast to "man...that was a close one" REAL fast.

i agree, maintaining the car is what will hit you most. whatever you end up spending make sure you have at least an extra $300/mo on top of car payments for quick fixes, at least for a bit.

I'd say go for it, your gonna have to put in a quart of oil every 2 weeks(about what I do), Have a fair amount of money saved for when it breaks. But I'll tell yah one thing, theres nothing like driving an fd, its an angelic experience. I almost guarantee if you drive it, your gonna fall head over heals for it.

They can be pretty reliable cars if take care of correctly, I drive mine daily(only about 8kmiles a year), it was a long battle getting it to the point of working correctly, now every 2-3months I spend maybe 500bucks in repairs/maintainence(I have a hell of alot of aftermarket parts sitting in my garage).

If you have a steady job and arent a fulltime student/working part time, I'd get it, but if your a fulltime student/paying for college w/ a partime job, dont do it . Its alot of money to maintain this car, but there is nothing that is quite like it, thus why I'm too madly in love w/ my car to EVER sell it, when I die, I'm going to have a airtight enclosure made next to my grave, and my car will be sitting there for eternity, so i can always be close to my baby(ok maybe I do need help! but atleast I'm a fanatic about a good thing!

In the past year I have spent about 14k on fixing my car, and I have about 15k in parts sitting in my garage, be prepared the shell out the money. Basically in the past year I have spent 15k on parts, 14k on fixing stuff, and 13k on the car,

omfg I've spent 42grand on my car in the past year, I may be a little more hardcore than others on shelling out money on my car, but be prepared. now I'm gonna shutup ><

Cool. That helps a lot. BTW, was that thing even streetable??

I'm guessing if you guys can afford a Supra's maintenance, you should be alright affording an FD. Just plz don't expect it to be anything near reliable. Supras vs. RX7s are like Hondas vs. Pintos when it comes to reliability lol.
