By porting the wastegate it simply means enlarging the diameter of the hole. Make sure you measure the diameter of the gate and bore the hole to a size slightly smaller than the gate.
On a seperate note, there seems to be a crack on the housing, or maybe it's just the picture?? If there is a crack, you may risk further damage during the porting process.

ok so that would means enlarging the small hole on the pic, is it? The one where the door closes?

What do you to port it, i mean what tool do you use?

Actually, this is not mine, it is a pic i found in my archive that i got on the web.

that's what i though, thanks a lot.

You will want to remove the metal on the inside of the circle. Measure how wide the wastegate door is and either get a machine shop to mill the hole bigger, or carefully do it yourself with a die grinder. My circle is a rough estimate just to give you an idea. You really need to measure.

I'd say that if you're going to get your wastegate ported, it's probably best to 1) understand what the ramifications are, 2) determine if you really need it, and 3) take it to a professional machine shop and have them do the grinding for you. Chances are that if you try to do this yourself without the appropriate tools and environment you'll just ruin the piece (i.e. if you just take a dremel to it or something).

What's a typical new ID for the ported wastegate? Like, do you take of 1/1000th of an ince? 1/100th? What really will make a difference in terms of boost creep, etc.?

MARIAH recomended (and I let them do it) releaving the cover over the wastegate so the gate can open WIDER - the cover is very thick and limits how far the gate can open, just remove 1/2 the thickness of the cover in the area the gate makes contact when opened.

oh well i don't plan on doing this myself, i don't even plan on doing it. It's just that the question was in my mind for awhile and i wanted to know, that's all.

i still have the main cat so i don't have boost creep but i might have some when i put the midpipe.

it doesn't work to save the pic, i can't save the pic but i can save the link. what the %%?/

1)???/// ramifications? less chance of boost creep...better boost controll
2) as long as you have stock cat you wont need it..but ive heard of cars creeping with high flow cats so if you got your turbos out might as well do it
roughly the wg new hole shold be abt 1.25 in

appropiate tools are a die grinder and carbide de-burring bits.(most wg's have small crack arround the circumfrance so drilling to 1.25 with a bit is dangerous..it can snag and crack the entire casting

but with a die grinder or if you need a huge project a dremmel its way easy
you have to be a complete morron to grind away enough cast iton to screw it up
what i did was close the flap trace arround it with a pencil..then grinded the center out till the line was just barely there

then chamfered the edges on both sides and smoothed out the rest of the flow section

i went from creeping to 16psi down to 10.5 in4th gear
