On the passenger side, near the top of the tranny.

The fill plug on the transmission is on the left side of the trans. It is a torx bolt (T55).

Make SURE you use the right one for gauging. The upper plug is for filling while the TORX plug is for gauging. Fill until is starts comign out of the torx hole. No more or you'll risk blowing the seals on front and rear

Note that there are two drain plugs (big hex on bottom, square head on side of tail housing).

The Factory Workshop Manual is available for free on the web. It will stop many of these wonders.

For instance, I don't remember ever removing the Torx plug when changing the fluid in my tranny, and I am fairly certain I did it correctly.

I just looked at the manual. The fill plug is the square-head pipe-thread nut on the side of the tailhousing, located a few inches above the square-head pipe-thread secondary drain plug.

I suggest that you jack up the car from the side of the drain plug (whichever side it turns out to be ), and fill the tranny until it starts to overflow. Leave a drain pan under the tranny, and lower the car to the ground. This will allow any excess to drain out, leaving the exactly correct amount of fluid in the tranny. Lift the car back up, and replace the fill plug.

Edit: Looks like the fill plug is on the drivers side. I got it mixed up with my other car.
