where does this dowel pin go?

The very back of the rear plate, and the very front of the front plate both use one dowel pin like that to line up the stationary gears. Check those places to verify which one is missing.

Stock engines only have two dowel pins (really aren't pins but tubes) that go on the upper drivers side of the engine and they also form the piping for oil to go to the front of the engine.
A modded engine may have had a second set installed for strength.

i doubt every mechanic knows every part to every engine. That is why there is always a first time for a particular engine, and this is my first time with a 13b. Yes I took it apart and sent in the housings. Stationary gears both have dowels and I cannot see where this thing can go. Could it be that the people that were lapping could have mixed up some parts? It's a streatch I know.
edit: I think I found out what it is, on the middle iron, near the filler neck. I think there is a spot for it, i belive it is a breather or something. Sound about right?
