Where do get a RE-Amemiya vented hood..

Anyone know of other suppliers other than rhdjapan that may have RE-Amemiya hoods in stock? Ordered a hood back in October, was just told today that it'll be another two months.

I've been trying to figure out if the Seibon has as aggressive vents on their TS as the Re Amemiya hood. As I have heard the Seibon fits better.

Nengun? But, if they're out of stock and have to make more I doubt anyone has them on hand except used. And shipping is pretty complicated right now.

Just FYI, there are huge delays in shipments out of Japan right now. I have a box at the post office for 4 weeks, and the ETA is 4 months.

Checking with other shipping companies on Monday, but I hear other shipping companies are backed up too.

I have a seibon ST hood and the vents are definitely less aggressive than the scoot it is made after. Now looking at the TS hood, it appears the same applies. See how the ad9 has 'deeper vents' when compared to the TS.

I bought my authentic RE-A hood from Shinku Classics
https://shinkuclassics.com/
They were at sevenstock last year and flew in Mr. RE-A for the event which was cool.

Don’t settle for a replica, I’ve yet to see one that’s even close to the same quality.

Seibon and shine auto both make excellent replicas.

My experiences with shine leave me pretty sceptical, and I’ve seen the seibon, it’s laughable in comparison.
The re-ad9 is probably the best aftermarket glass work I’ve ever seen. It’s stunning how well it fits and is laid up. Worth the expense and wait.

+1 Mazda closed the factory partly because they ran out of room in the parking lot.
the last Mx5 they made is still sitting at the factory, it was built 3/27/2020! that is two months! its usually no more than 3 days

Interesting and I'm not going to dispute your experience. But as a whole, your experience of both shine and seibon go against what the majority of people report.

It's always assumed that JDM stuff is such superior quality to replicas but I haven't always seen that either. I've had owners of the original AD9 say it doesn't fit that great either, and the zillion dollar dry carbon one doesn't even have rolled edges.

The only one I've consistently heard fit really well were genuine Mazdaspeed.

My carbon AD9 which I bought last year does not have rolled edges which was unexpected. The fit is excellent surprisingly. I looked at a handful while at sevenstock last year and was pleasantly surprised. It's not particularly strong though. I have to close it carefully and removed the hood damper kit that I had been running b/c I thought it was going to break the hood.

I also have an old school Atilla Mazdaspeed hood in the garage. That **** is stiff, a bit heavy and fits well. I would have used it but the vents are so tiny.

My FRP AD9 hood doesn’t fit that well either, but it fits a whole lot better than the Carbonmiata AD9 replica I got. The quality difference between the two was ridiculous. Other than the fit, the replica had a shoddy finish and badly molded mounting points. The only hood I got that fit perfect was the original Rotary Extreme Scoot replica they made back in 2003.

I always heard the original never fit good either. I know those pics posted above make the seibon vents seem so shallow in comparison, but I have seen other pics that seem they aren't so far apart. I also heard the seibon dots better than the original. This is why I haven't made a move on either yet lol. I am still trying to figure it out.

With shine, I had their feed replica fenders ( which were warped all to heck, the mounting flanges were 70 degrees out from where they were supposed to be, almost perpendicular to the mounting surface, totally unusable ), their burnout rear fender “blisters” (also badly warped), and burnout replica side skirts that were not dimensionally correct.
I also had one of their earlier production front ends that was excellent, hence my disappointment with the very poor quality of the other items.

Seibon had bad panel gaps.

Thats a definite negative, the seibon gaps are not even close to the original ad9.
This is an original ad9 frp, the seibon looks like the panel gaps were cut with a chainsaw in comparison. Surface finish is also much better, less “waves”.
