I have never seen the ypipe go bad. Typically the coupler that connects the ypipe and crossover tube gets a hole in it and will leak causing a hissing sound and loss of boost.

What cuppler?

I have an aftermarket big thick blue cuppler that was replaced 2 summers ago.

do you mean the cuppler that attaches to the y piece and the pipe that goes to the IC ?

They are referring to the coupler which connects the Y-pipe to the cross-over tube.

no, where the two pieces come together. the older models have a coupler...the 99spec have a gasket and bolt together.

this is a picture of the 99 spec. as you can see..there is a gasket mating the two pieces
