Where To Buy Aluminum Tubing?

I've checked Burn's Stainless, Argyle Industries, APT, and even eBay, but I can't find round aluminum tubing smaller than 3/8"(.375). The size I need is 3/16"(.1875) and 1/4"(.250). Does anyone know where I can buy from? Thanks.

Are you looking for tubing for vacuum lines? What project are you thinking of - sounds interesting whatever it is .

In the interest of finding out what neat project you're doing, I hit up Google .

http://www.clintalum.com/aluminum/drawnround.htm

There's one source. Also -

http://www.texastowers.com/aluminum.htm

They don't have the size you're looking for, but it seems that HAM radio guys buy small ID aluminum tubing to make telescoping antennas with.

I'm making an aluminum catch can and moving my AST. I'll be using the tubing to compensate for some funky bends. I'm also doing the sequential simplification so I'm thinking about replacing as much of the silicone hose as possible with aluminum tubing. No more worries about kinked hose and less hose to go bad, just a small silicone coupler to connect the hard lines.

That's a good idea! I was looking for some tubing once to add my own nipples on the intake manifold of my FC - now that's hardcore .

Just keep Googling. Might also want to hit your local yellow pages and call around - I've been surprised at the weird stuff I've been able to find locally.

Local Hobby stores might have some aluminum tubing. r/c airplane stuff. Don't know if that'll work though because it more craft stuff rather than industrial stuff.

I did something like this using hard break lines that I cut into the sizes I needed for the nipples. They even have a bowed out end so that the silicone line has zero chance of slipping off. Getting the hose on them was a pain though...needed to use a blow drier to get them super heated so I could squeeze them over the bowed out end.

My local OSH hardware store has 1/4" alum tubing. Look in the plumbing section, I think it is used for water lines to refridgerators or something like that. I bought a coil of it with the intent of making myself some stiff wastegate control lines. I haven't gotten around to doing that yet, though.

For the 3/16 tubing, check the metal supply section of the local hardware store. Most have a little group of small-sized "hobby metal supplies" (brass plate, etc) with the larger angle irons, bar stock, and sheet metal. They have small tubing, and they might just have it in aluminum. The pieces are straight and usually only 12" long or so, though. A brake line tubing bender (from auto parts store, perhaps with a spring from hardware store or mcmaster.com around the OD of the tube to help prevent kinking) might be useful for bending.

Yep, I had to resort to the same thing when I was looking for some aluminum nipples to weld on to my intake.
