Where to borrow pilot bearing tool

I'm getting set up to drop my first tranny and replace the throwout bearing. Depending on the clutch wear, I may put in a new one, but won't unless I have to because of cash issues.

Anyway, I'd rather not buy the tool for $100 if someone can loan one or 'lease' it for cheap. Any suggestions?

Frankly I'd rather get an ACT from RP and borrow a tool from them, but it's the $$.

Your best bet is to see if anyone in your local RX-7 club has one. I tried to ask the dealer to borrow one, but they gave me a bunch of crap so I enged up buying one.

You might see if you can rent one from KDR. I don't know how far away they are from you, but it's worth a shot.

Unless you just enjoy dropping transmissions, I would go ahead and do the clutch replacement at the same time if you are even remotely thinking about it.

You don't need a special removal tool. You can use a standard clutch pilot bearing removal tool you can borrow at Autozone. If its 'too bad' you can make it a little smaller by grinding it down a slight bit. Its no big deal at all... "rent" one from autozone or local parts store.

I thought the RX-7 pilot bearing required the Mazda tool. (Or a lot of sweat and blood) What tool did you use and from where?
