When should I switch to 9 or 10 plugs all around?
When should I switch to 9 or 10 plugs all around?
changed my plugs and wires recently with the stock, as my car is stock (power wise) besides DP, Catback...full list in sig
when does it become more sense to go higher rating all around? I have a set of howards recommended autolite 10s, but thought it would be overkill at this point.
planned Order of future(power) upgrades:
intake
highflow (dw, I have boost control)
pfc+tune
SMIC//VMOUNT
what do you guys think? Should I just make the switch now? After intake mod? High flow?
I do tend to drive spirited, making sure to redline atleast once for carbon, and secondary inj. cycling.
thanks

Stick with the stock plugs. 9's in all holes can handle pretty much anything you're likely to drive on the street.
If you want to run some cheap *** autolite plugs that's on you, just realize that they are cheap for a reason. The stock platinum 9's have successfully run 540(ish)whp for some time, others may claim their plugs are better, but they have yet to make a successful day of passes, much less a year on them.

i'm running the auto lites and let me tell you .. I'm going back to NGK's after this set .
They do not take the abuse as well as the NGK , the spark on the NGK's seem stronger . then on the auto lites .
I'm running rich atm over 7k rpms it dips into the 10.0 afrs I know this is bad but I like taking it slow and making sure things dont go boom .
but with the NGK i still got smooth power even when it was in the 10.0 .
WIth the auto lites I get ignition breakup even if its not 10.0 in the 10.5's I get ignition break up. Now if the car was tuned perfectly maybe it wouldnt break ignition BUT personally I dont think I wanna run the risk LOL .
oh and my autolites are gapped at .020
I'm not saying they arent a viable option if you had maybe ignition amplifiers , or a good lean tune .

I've run all 9's on stock and near-stock cars. Really no good reason not to. I imagine in colder climates it could be a pain to start when cold or something, but I'm not havin' that problem down in Florida.

More testing should be done on these plugs to make sure they are a viable option. But I'm not gonna draw negative conclusions on them just yet. So you have the single electrode version? I have yet to install them on my 20b. Oh yea, your not gonna blow the engine at that A/F. If anything, you have a larger margin of safety if you get a bad tank of gas running rich. Running richer under the full load side of your map is never a bad thing with a boosted rotary.
