when i step on brake when moving, engine boggs down really low and almost cuts
when i was driving today, i noticed that my car started to act very strange. when i step on brake when moving, engine boggs down really low and almost cuts. i then notice a fuel smell comming from the a/c vents (i dont got a/c mind you but i notice that there was some fuel smell) and when i popped hte hood, i got a face full of fuel smell. does the fuel pump increase pressure when you push the brakes? has anyone ever experienced this before? inanycase, i do know not to drive it as it will go on fire probally and im gonna tear in to it tomorrow.

I have a similar problem with my FC vert. Every time I drive with the AC on eventually the engine dies once I press the brakes. It will never die while warming up, only when fully warm. Sometimes after driving for a while it will hold idle . I think my TPS is bad. Oh well.

I think it's actually an electrical problem. So that's why I think that the fuel smell is just one of two problems. They are probably both related tho. If in fact it is an electrical problem...you should check out your plugs/wires. If when it robbes it of a spark then you could be flooding and hence the bog down and gas smell.
PS. the fuel pump will release pressure when you let off the throttle, but will deliver the proper amount of fuel needed for idle speed.

Do your rpms drop when you hit the brakes when moving? I have a similair problem but no fuel smell. My quick solution is to turn on the running lights and leave them on. The car no longer stumbles when the brakes are hit. Probably due to the fact that when the running lights are on the idle is about 200 rpm higher than the standard 750. So about 950... The rpm does drop still but it doesn't stumble and almost stall.
Most mechanics that I've spoken to seem to believe it's the grounds or a short. I've checked the car for shorts but could not find anything. I bet it's the grounds.
