when i get my car tuned can I??

ok when i take my car to get tuned for the very first time.. can i do a tune like this and be safe doing this.???.

ok now a lil detail of what im talking about:

I want to pretty much tune my FD to 17psi on the non sequential twins.. yes 17psi... but i want to do that on race fuel etc.. now i know thats possible but now when i drive it on the street with that tune set to 17psi, would i be safe to then run 93 octane pump fuel and drop the boost down to say 14psi?? or does it have to be 2 seperate tunes..??

what im looking for is all out performance when i go to the strip, and another boost level for daily driving that wont require a full tune, just different fuel and a turn of a **** on a boost controller..

is that even possible?? I have the PFC and commander in my fd..

go ahead and flame me with the flame thrower but im serious could that work?

well you can't have 2 tunes on the pfc.

you could turn the boost down and then it'll just run rich.... daily driving is gonna suffer though as it's not tuned to 12 psi.

Who's your tuner? A-Spec is in your neck of the woods and should be first on your list.

you need a 3bar map sensor to run over 15PSI

IMO, that describes a half-assed tune.

There's no reason that you can't tune at different boost values; you run in the cells that require tuning and correct as needed. Saying this won't work is like saying you can't tune the PFC for boost *and* cruise. The car has a MAP sensor for a reason.

Using different fuels will affect the tune, so a race-fuel tune won't be perfect for pump gas. Tell your tuner what you want and ask him to leave some margin in the normal-boost area.

As always, the tuner's skill and diligence are the most important factors in a tune.

The fuel burn rate is different between c16 and pump fuel. Whats the real important factor is that you need more c16 per injector pulse. When you go back to pump fuel your a/f's will be wayy off. Buy a dataloggit, make two maps, switch when needed...

As for the map sensor. It's a debate if you can go over 15lbs. You can go up to 17lbs. Though, if you get one boost spike you're SOL... For safety reasons your better off going with a 3 bar map sensor. Apexi makes a plug and play one.

Running the twins at that high amount over a period of time will prove to be detrimental to them...

Do you have any idea what turbochargers do when you run them outside their efficiency range? I'd highly recommend AGAINST trying for 17psi on stock turbos, even if you've modified them for non-sequential operation.

why dont you just buy the b&r's, running anything higher than 14psi on the stock turbos is not recommended

anything over 15psi on stock twins isnt going to be good for the turbos

I ran 15psi on stock non-seq twins and they didnt last long. Even 15psi is pushing it on stock twins.

if you want to run more boost, get a big turbo and a) run race gas or b) alky injection

well the high boost setting i was talking about woud be for the strip only, and when on the street id like to run 13psi roughly.. thats why i was asking about dual tunes..
