When getting a used car...
When getting a used car, what is the bad thing about getting a "salvaged" titled car? I mean, I'm looking at one right now, but I've heard that getting a salvaged title isn't good. Any objections? Comments? Thanks in advance for the help!

Well its stated "That you dont drive a title you drive the car". So with that in mind the car if repaired properly should be fine. Also why was it salvaged. Sometimes some minor damage can total a vehicle. Get the receipts for the work to determine what you think is acceptable. As for trading in a savlaged vehicle to a dealer. Well... You can forget about doing that. They wont offer you squat for the car.
Some myths about salvaged title cars is 1. You cant get it insured. Thats a Lie. Also a fully repaired vehicle is insurable and also will pay out the entire book value if totaled again. I know this because its happened to me on my Old truck.
2. You cant get finacing for a salvaged title vehicle. Also false.
Typical rules of thumb are 20-30% less value than book for salvaged title. But like most things value is representative of several factors. I see Supras going for above book and also Salvaged title cars for at least book value. So its relative.

With a salvage title you will want to make absolutely sure that the car was repaired properly. A salvaged car will have a lower resale value but since you'll pay less for it that might not be too big a deal to you.

Take the car you're looking at to an alignment shop and have them do a four wheel alignment check. It'll cost you around $100 but will tell you if the chassis is bent. Sometimes it's the only way to tell. So it's worth it if otherwise you want to buy the car.
