I'm going to attempt to change my front brakes and rotors. I’m hoping this will solve the problem of shakiness, it occurs at high speed breaking. I believe its from warped rotors. I spoke to a mechanic looking at my car and he believed I only really needed to change the front. He said he didn’t see too much wear on the rear or see why I should change them. I do believe he might be right considering the front brakes on our car would do most work and take abuse, agree???

 

Yes I agree that the front brakes take more of the beating. I personally..would change it all and be done with all of it. The thought that there's new fronts..old rears just doesn't make me 100% comfortable.

This is what I personally would do..not saying you should, but I'd change em all.

 

the front brakes usually take most of the work on most cars...
change the front brakes, and i would also change the back brakes if you yourself havn't done so since you owned the car...
and you dont have to change the rotors, unless there bad...take them to a local parts store and have them turn the rotors for you...if they wont you'll need new ones...

1. You need new brake pads if they are below the minimum thickness or are otherwise damaged (glazed over from excessive heat).

2. You need new rotors if they are below the minimum thickness or are cracking.

IMO, there is nothing inherently wrong in just replacing the fronts if the rears are fine. Put new pads in, get the rotors turned, break the new pads in properly, and see how she drives.
