When Buying An Fd...what Are Some Good Questions To Ask?

What are some questions that I should really ask before buying an FD? I should ask about recalls right? What else is important?

Without any doubt at all have it compression checked, I refused to buy my car without one. You should also have a cooling system pressure test done to check the o-rings, the compression test will reveal any apex seal probs, and you need a SPECIALIST to do a compression test correctly, don't trust even a random dealer, find one that says "oh we only have one tech that works on the FDs" cuz alot of dealers will take it in not knowing what they're in for. Keep in mind its not cheap cuz it requires a good bit of disassembly, luckily the dealer i got mine at paid for the test and new spark plugs, but I think its at least 1 hr shop labor @75ish an hour.

just ask if it starts up alright

and no if the price is good and the car runs fine, who cares if they won't let you compression test it, especially if under 12-15k. You can always pay for a specialist to put in a brand new engine for you for just about 3-5k. Yes it would be nice to have it compession tested but if the guy doesn't want to pay for it or does not have the time and the vaccum is good and it runs just fine, its probally ok.

Just remember... its not a Ferrari or Lambo. It's pretty much a toy car for the fairly rich or for people that know how to wrench on their own cars. Just have that extra 3-5k for a new engine and you'll be fine. In the end, it will probally still be cheaper then a new civic so if you can't even afford a civic, buy a bike! Their much faster anyways and get more chicks!

good luck
