wheel center cap removal

My center caps are getting old and much of the paint has chipped off all of them. I wanted to repaint them and was just wondering if anyone knows an easy way to remove them. Tried to pry them off w/small screwdriver, but the screwdriver wouldn't fit. I don't want to force it too much, because i don't want to deform the caps. Anyone know a good way to get them off???

Thanx
Jason
