Whats wrong with my car now?

I have had my car for a little under a half a year now and so far its been running pretty good, but today the car seemed like it was struggling to not die when I came to stop lights and put it in neutral. The RPM's started to decline to about 500. Anybody have some sort of diagnosis?

I prescribe a search for "+stall +stop". As well, review the FSM pages F-178 and F-179.

If you were getting on it before it started it is probably a vac hose that popped off. I happened to mine when i had the stock twins.

Come to think of it. I was mad this morning and did a few hard launches to take out my aggression, but could a few hard launches be enough to pop off a vacuum hose? I just drove about 2 miles the bank and back in a residential area. What area was the vacuum hose that popped off on yours located? In the rats nest? If it's not that, do you think it could be an oil pressure problem? I need to pick up a new oil sending unit because there have been a few times where I noticed that my oil pressure went down to 0 went I came to stops.

FD oil pressure senders are notoriously unreliable - usually it's just the sender that's bad, not an actual low oil pressure.

As far as the stalling, the MAP sensor hose is prone to popping off and will cause poor running. The MAP sensor is the small rectangular unit attached to the drivers side firewall near the brake booster - says "Boost Sensor."

I took the car out again to see if the problem still occured, but it didn't. Idled at around 690 to 750 RPM's. If it was the MAP sensor hose or any hose that popped off, wouldn't the problem still be there? I don't have a clue what caused it to idle to 500 RPM's like it did.

Checked my MAP sensor hose and found it was still attached. The spark plugs and wires have already been changed out so I doubt it could have anything to do with that. At least I hope so. I'm planning to take it to the local Firestone for a tune up minus changing out the plugs, and a state inspection. I'll mention it to them. Hopefully it's something minor.

Check all of your sensor connections. I had a lose MAF sensor once (different vehicle) and it caused the same exact issues that you are describing. Generally, mechanical problems don't come and go so it's probably just a lose or shabby sensory connection giving your ECU f'd up readings. It wouldn't hurt to do a scan next time the car wiggs out.

yes.... usually a vacuum hose is the culprit... you can get some carb cleaner and start spraying around the rats nest... if your car idles wierd when carb cleaner is sprayed then it means you have a vacuum leak somewhere~~

Firestone, that's rich....

Be sure to ask them to change the timing belt, adjust the valves, and check the distributor!

I forgot to add that my vacumm readings on my boost gauge is reading around 17 at start up before it gets warmed up, 20 when I let off the gas, and 12 to 13 at idle warmed up. Aren't those readings fine?

If they can't get tires right, what CHANCE would they have of diagnosing and fixing a rotary?

I suggest you take it to a shop with a clue.
