Whats The Next Step In Tunning My Fd?

I recently had my fd checked out by a rotary specialist and he gave me the all clear to start modifying it. Every one has told me that you should start of with a free flow exhaut (de-cat downpipe). an ECU (apexi power fc) and have it maped. After calculating how much this will all cost I will have around £700 still to spend after I have bought power fc and an exhaust. What else should I buy? or should I just keep saving up and go single turbo next year?

Will their be a lot of difference in power after having a full exhaust and different ECU?

Current mods

HKS air cleaners
Blitz dump valve
HKS hard pipes
Blitz nur spec exhaust silencer

In any non-US FD, it's my understanding that the downpipe does not have a cat. So you can probably leave it alone.

If you go full exhaust you should probably have the turbo wastegate ported in advance. Full exhausts flow so much that the stock wastegate valve can't keep up, even when fully open, and this leads to so-called 'boost creep' which is a Bad Thing. The alternative is a high-flow cat and cat-back, which doesnt' flow quite as much, can pass most emissions tests, doesn't smell awful and isn't as loud, but usually doesn't have issues with boost creep. (That's my pitch to have you consider keeping a cat in there).

Dump valves are not performance mods for this car. They make noise - no more, no less.

For the single turbo thing, you won't be able to use a normal downpipe anyway, so if you're thinking of that route I'd just keep the stock downpipe. But that's a big jump - you'll need to upgrade a lot of stuff to make the single conversion. I think you should try a freer exhaust and ECU first and see how you like that.

Yes, some. But IMO if you're going to install only one exhaust mod, I would install a cat-back first.
