Whats the history of your FD???

So I had this thought to see if anyone knows the history on thier cars before they owned them or while etc. I have some stories about mine so here i go.

FD No1:
I bought my first FD back in 2002, it was at a freinds garage and had the original engine taken out in favour for a ex stock car 13B Monsterport race engine, it was equipped with 48mm IDA webber, custom extractors (no turbo's), flywheel and clutch. I sold all of the race gear, purchased a stock engine etc and put it back on the road.
The previous owner to that was a drug dealer, he ended up in jail for obvious reasons and his girlfreind was driving it around. She didnt put oil in it and blew the engine so the car went to a garage and sat there for a year in bits gathering dust. The guy who owned it stopped making payments on it so it was repossesed from the garage it was sitting, from there it went into the hands of the guy before me.
While owning it I went through 3 engines, a diff and 2 sets of turbo's, painted it from red to a custom Purple.

FD No 2:
I was lucky enough to have a good relationship with an RX7 wrecker and this car came up pretty cheap.
It was stolen around 3 years ago and was deregistered by the insurance company as it was too much to fix, brakes, engine, seats etc gone, wiring looms cut, every exterior panel hit with a hammer and scratched with a screw driver. My friend who is a wrecker purchased the car from auctions and he on sold it to another person who started the initial work. He gave up and sold it back to my Freind and at that time I had just sold my previos FD and wanted a project so I paid him the money and now I have a nice FD agian. I had to grind back all of the work that was started by the other guy as it was a crap job and I am really really fussy! This took me 7 months from start to finish.

Way too may things that ive done to list on this one

Mine is pretty simple. The wife of the owner of the Mazda dealership in Wichita owned mine first. I am the 2nd owner.

I'm the fourth owner of my RX-7. From what little records I have, the initial owner barely ever drove the vehicle. Owned it for 6 years and only put a little over 8k on the engine.

The second owner drove the hell out of it. In a 3 year span, he put over 80k on the chassis. However, he had a full blown engine rebuild (as well as many other little upgrades) compliments of Rotary Performance in TX. Their stickers are all over the car to date. On the overall, he seemed to take care of it.

The third owner drove it into the ground. Owned it for about 5 years and put 50k on it. Ignored a seriously bad fuel smell. The paint is torn up, the interior was devestated (I've been spending the past month rebuilding, refurbishing, and replacing the interior.) If you saw the condition the car was in when I bought it, you probably would have had the same urge as I did. To beat the ever loving hell out of the owner. Just bash his skull in for treating any car like he did. Let alone a dying breed of car.

I'm the 4th owner. I've put about 7 miles on it. Owned her for about a month now. I got alot of work to do. And a lot of money, that I don't have, to spend ~ etc etc.

I doubt I'll ever sell the car. Not unless I pick up another one some day. But then I'll probably just keep both of them around.

NY

Dealership in Coconut Creek, FL.
Early 96 with only 70 dealer miles(95 PEP/White/Auto) included fogs and spoiler
Now, 53K plenty of mods but still in the shop after disastrous (totaled caliber)accident a few months ago (only the 1st in its long history
Been there and back and then some but its still with me after a long (body shop) and I won't soon let it go no matter how big the bills
(though not practical but that what all the years did to my head)
I'll be back on the road hopefully sooner then later

I bought mine mid 2006. Found it on the internet about 2 hours south of where i'm located. Turns out the previous owner imports wrecked jap cars and restores them, but pretty sure he only imported nissans. as of history.. my FD used to be white? Not sure if it was white before it was painted red, or whether you need a white undercote for vintage red? Has about 100k miles on chassis and 30k miles on Engine... been replacing parts since! Only put about 7k miles on it since I bought her... still have her till this day!

Mine has a lot of unknown history...original owner had it for about 8 years and barely drove it. I think there was another owner for a few years, then in 2007 it was sold twice and then again to me in Sept 2007 with 8900 miles on it. The guy who owned it right before me liked to collect cars, enjoy them, then replace them with another one.

Now I'm the final owner of this pristine VR R1. It's free & clear and there is no way I'm ever going to get rid of it. I may accumulate more FDs or other cars in the future, but that will never be a reason to get rid of this one.

My '93 was originally purchased by a doctor, sight unseen, who blew the motor and turbos, repainted, and god knows what else. It was bought by a good friend in '04 who drove it into the ground. After he blew the seals in the secondary turbo I picked it up for a mere $5k. I bought it in '05 and have dumped a ****-ton of time and money into it since.

I think mine has a very unique history as it was first sold on June 16, 1994 in Utah which is my Birthday...it then travelled to Georgia then Florida and finally to California where I bought it from a guy named Fred Gore, Fred being my Dad's name too..lol...

Funny thing is I saw this car on Auto Trader in May and ignored it, I then proceeded to checking out a bunch of FD's and finally went to Brentwood to check this one out, fell in love with it and bought it in November of 04...Amazingly that nobody bought it for that time as it was very well maintained....Guess it was meant for me..lol...

My history on my FD
Got my first FD of auction, its 93’ silver with red interior with only 44k miles (Automatic) (heavily damaged), Still fixing it up. Needed bunch of parts for it so I had no chose but to take another FD for parts. SO here I am invested about $9k for 2 FD’s and it still not on road yet.
The good part about the second FD the I got is that it manual. SO my future plans is to do a swap on transmissions So I can have Rare 93 silver/red color combination, with 44k miles on engine and body. Also I’m the second owner of it.

Bought my 93 VR R1 with 21,000 miles on it (from a board member). Everything was original and mint, aside from a few spider webs under the hood. The first owner sold it at 800 miles (I heard he was too big for it), the second owner barely drove it all these years. So I guess I was lucky to stumbling upon it. I got the perfect blank slate.

My 93 R1 was bought by some unkown person in 1993. Drove less than 4k miles on it. Then a car collector in Lav Vegas bought it from an auction for about 15K!! he put about 10K miles in a span of 12 years. Then some mazda enthusiast from texas bought it from him at a Vegas Car show, where the car won first place. He drove about 7K miles and did some autocross which kinda sux cause my pillowballs and toe links were shot. Then i came in the pic... Bought last year w/ 37000 miles bone stock . Now Ive got 42K with the original engine still running strong at 330whp.

I bought my '93 VR touring locally from an 18 year old who was the 2nd owner in 2001. He owned it for one year and was selling it to go to college. It was stock except he put in a CD changer that he removed upon sale. It screwed up the Bose system that I had to have repaired. The good news is it had only 57K and a transferable warranty that replaced the front suspension when he owned it and it covered the repairs on the Bose system when I took possession. The first owner had it for 7 years and only put 40K on it. I immediately performed all the reliability mods, replaced the 5th gear synchro, and the clutch. This solved the secondary boost issues and later I have completed some mild mods that are listed in my sig. I have stored it every winter and she only sees summer weather.
