Whats happening when the car is running very rich?

I see a light blue smoke coming out of the exhaust in spurts, and I also notice a strong exhaust smell. If I close to it and bend down I notice that the fumes burn my eyes, is this running really rich or what is it ?

no it doesnt really back fire but at idle it feels like its trying to backfire a little. I do notice that there is a little bit of shakyness when the car is ideling, and spurts out a little bit of blue smoke

you're running a little rich if it backfires a little, for god sakes take your car to the machanic, this is like the fifth thread you opened because of this problem, any exaust would burn eyes, duh, it's chemicals, don't drive your car, you could blow the engine or yourself it would be a waste of an FD, take it to a machanic, and stop getting high on the exaust!

...running rich will NOT blow your engine...but you will run slower, have to change plugs more, and burn your eyes smelling exhaust fumes...

Yeah I agree... Please either do alot more searching/research on problems FD's get or take your car to a mechanic. Or even better get rid of it and get a Kia with a 100,000 mile warrenty..

I've had my share of FD problems but I've never opened 5 threads in 2 days for the same problem, taking off the ball guess's at what it is..

no one gives u a reply cause u ask stupid questions. questions like, "is this my turbo i'm looking at?" are not going to get very constructive replies. if you don't know what a turbo looks like, chances are you probably should not be working on your car. please take it to a mechanic...

Very grown up.. I made a simple suggestion for you to do more research about what would make a car burn blue smoke. You can use the search button as well as check out other sites as they have troubleshooting tips as well. I am not even going to get into it because everyone has already suggested all they can suggest you to check out. Basically I don't have the patience to have a flame thread with you newbie. I'm telling you though you'd be better off with a nice Kia..

Does the blue smoke ever go away after you start it. Its normal to run rich. Are you puffing out black smoke a lot or not. Answer these and Iam sure you will have more "technical" advice.
Good luck!

A.) How could I miss seeimg all of your threads? If you don't get an answer from someone then all you have to do is bump the thread up, not start a new one guessing at what the problem might be and waiting for someone to tell you exactly what it is and exactly what it is. Also you seem to be afraid to get your hands dirty. I have not heard one post from you yet saying you checked the things you were told to check. Threads are space and space costs the forum money you know.

B.)I've owned my FD for close to 3 years, and like alot of people on here I have learned its parts pretty well. I never said I knew everything but when I have a problem I know to look for technical support that's in the archives or on another site perhaps. Starting a new thread guessing at what the problem might be every 5 minutes is no way to get a problem fixed.

1.) Either buy a Mazda manual, learn about the parts of the car, and get your hands dirty and check what you've been told to check

2.) Take it to a mechanic

3.)Buy a Kia and don't work on anything powered by a gasoline motor for the sake of other people... Deal?

Oh and to answer your question a FD normally runs rich with alot of exhaust fumes, especially but not limited to FD's with full exhaust. You have an exhaust leak as well, or at least you said you did in one of your previous posts. Which is spouting raw fumes out. Another way you would smell fumes. Your blue smoke is your car burning oil. Whether it's the engine or the turbos you'll have to check it out.

Blue smoke = Oil burning

Black smoke = Running rich(Unplug your map sensor while your car is idling to see an example)

White smoke = Water or condensation

Is my car running rich

He is potatobbq and I am nipper,or if you are slandering a race of people then grow up. From the content of your posts I think you don't deserve the privilege[sp.] of driving such a highly technical auto such as an RX-7.
