What's the best place to sell a HIGHLY MODIFIED FD ?
Trying to get an idea of where I should post mine for sale. I've pretty much decided that EBAY is worthless for selling modified FD'S.
Any other websites out there that I should know about?

The way it sits now, it drives awesome on the streets.
Anyhow, I was thinking about websites like www.autotrader.com . I just looked and people were asking uppper 30's for their near stock FD'S. I thought that was entertaining.
Anyone have experience with selling modified FD'S?

I would say start at local events...(say with a 9s time slip)
autotrader...nah. your FD is too "built" for that. People willing to buy your car aren't looking on autotrader for it.
possibly look at some competition magizines...I always see sick cars for sale in the back.
Even with the classifieds here you'll get every 16 year old kid asking to trade his Del Sol + cash...then maybe filter thru that **** you might find someone serious.
Personally, I'd lock this beast up in storage and go take a peek once in awhile and pimp your Honda...7 more years and how rare do you think a clean 20 year old RX-7 will be???

As I said, your best bet is to try for the drag racing crowd "as the car is now".
If it was a "highly modified road racing" car, you'd probably catch the interest of more of the people like Fritz on this forum.
IMO, if you need to sell the car quickly, your best bet would be to sell off some of the stuff separately; then sell the car as a mildly modified car.

Dude, sell it on ebay.
How is it worthless?
People bought a piece of bread with jesus outline in it and bidded up to like 5 grand for it IIRC.
Im sure you can sell a clean high modded FD on ebay and get your price. Just make sure the bidders are legit and ****.
Other than that, it should sell no problem. Ebay has to be the only marketplace that is viewed most than any other site.

Autotrader (coverage), local trade paper (if you have one). There is one in this area called Carolina Trader. Dupont Registry may be a good place as well, as long as the car is pictured in street trim and not drag trim. And as always, the front yard works too, that is if you are on a major road and crime is not an issue. Good luck with the sale.

He very well may be interested in your 3rd gen.
His interest in cars is all over the map, owning more than one highly modded car.
His 55 Buick Roadmaster and Old Toronado are both very fast street machines.

Shut up dummy. The last I saw the car, its exhaust exhited behind the right front tire... and it was insanely loud, obviously. And it wasn't exactly a "daily driver". Take your 32 posts to the corner with you. I didn't ask for your mouth.
Lupe, why the heck are you selling this car with so much money and time wrapped up in it?? Can't you spend time with your family and also work in some time with the car?

Eric,
I go back to previous posts where we disagreed on what streetable means. You are going to have to find a buyer that doesn't mind the fact that it doesn't have A/C, no sound deadening in the cabin, and other things you too out to get the car to it's current light weight state. I'd try, like some have said, performance oriented sites. SCCA and NASA both have forums where people sells cars as well.

Herein lies the problem with selling ANY modified car. The more you mod it to YOUR liking, the less appeal is has to the broad public. Much like a house that is custom built, case in point is a local home that was built for a lady who was a doll collector. This house had all these long corridor type rooms with built-in shelving and recessed lighting to showcase the 5,000 dolls she had. But when she passed away, her heirs had to nearly give this home away, due to its uniqueness. It was impractical for 99% of the population.
Lupe - your best bet in my opinion is to focus on finding a person or group that has extremely similar interests as you (obviously). What I am saying is somewhere there is someone looking for that EXACT car. Dreaming about it, sketching it absently on napkins, etc. You will need to find THIS person to extract the maximum financial potential from your vehicle, otherwise you are likely to be faced with parting it out or selling it for FAR less than you want.
It would suck to have say $50K in a car that your best offer is only a third or a quarter of that. It quickly gets to the point where you say, "Well...**** THAT! I'll just keep it."
Good luck!
