Angry what is wrong with this pressure plate?

I purchased this pressres plate from a member of the forum that will remain undisclosed at this time (waiting for verdict from the manufacturer)

I spent about 10 hours and rented a picker ($70) to install motor and tranny last weekend and could not understand why the collar would not engage with the pressure plate splines.

Well the spline diameter on the pressure plate is 2-3/16" and allows for quarter of an inch around both sides of the wedge collar ring that is supposed to grab the splines as the bearing retracts.

I was very frustrated and angry since I had plans to install the engine/tranny and do my startup checklist this week to run the car next weekend...and just got ganked by another member that shipped rear diff with bent pinion and companion plate...

the manufacturers told me the center of the pressure plate is to have a permanent ring that holds the wedge collar which is then secured on the other side with the ring...

thanks for your help

Did you observe the gap between the ring and the pressure plate splines? Correct me if I am wrong but with that gap how is he ring on the wedge collar going to grab the splines? It pulls right through the pressure plate without grabbing anything! The wedge collar is not supposed to move around it is supposed to fit snugly in the pressure plate center.

There is a ring missing on the pressure plate that the wedge collar slides into and the ring clips on the other side. When the engagement collar on the fork pulls back, it is supposed to grab the splines and disengage the pressure plate on the clutch.

It should arrive at SPEC this morning...they will hopefully shed some light on this matter.
