I'm not sure what you expected. Sympathy for something that sounds like it could easily have been avoided with a little effort on your part? Situations like this are why you pay for comprehensive insurance. Learn from the mistake and move on.

I made an error by stating he comes over each day to ask me to move my car. I unintentionally referred to the times when my neighbor asks me to move my car when he mows his lawn as not to get grass all over it. And when I stated "cutting the tree down", I ment the entire process not just sawing the tree.
No, I don't expect sympathy from anyone on here. You nor anyone else I don't personally know don't mean **** to me, so I could care less. I do have and pay for comprehensive insurance so nothing to learn from the advice you gave. Moving on.
So, to summarize, all of you are saying his car was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Your all nuts. Thats like blaming a bystander in a shooting.
Personally, Ive become very accustomed to gravity over the last 25 years. The guy on the other side of the fence was the idiot, and is the one to blame. Plus, he's a coward for not being a man about it.
My FB has been hit twice in the last two months in my own driveway, by my cousin and aunt. Of course, I dont even report it. I just tell them how much it'll cost me to repair it and work out a deal.
Get your pictures and take him to civil court. You could probably tell the guy that your gonna do it, but dont threaten him with it. That way he'd be more likely to cooperate instead of going inside to figure where he put the keys to gun cabinet. You may get your money, but it will suck to live next door to the guy you sued.

After being asked to move his car on previous occasions and upon noticing that the work requiring the car to be moved had not been completed, the logical course of action would have been to continue to move the car until the work was done. It's not like they just showed up and started cutting without his knowledge. Figure it out.

What I would do is confront him and demand payment for the damage he caused, if he does not give you conpensation then basically you have 2 choices either get the law and cops involved or take it into your own hands and beat the **** out of him, but with this method you most likely wont get any compensation but you may feel good abou yourself after..
from the way it sounds, he wasnt having to move his car every day, due to rain and the fact that the guy was just picking up limbs instead of cutting them down. and since his neighbor didnt ask him to move his car, he had no idea that he needed to move it. i for one would not move my car out of my own driveway into the street where its more likey to be struck by something unless i have a reason to. if i heard a chain saw, that'd might be enough reason to move it
bottom line is that the guy cutting down the tree fugged up and should of offered to to fix your car, at least that's what i would do.
your best bet is to approach your neighbor and his chain saw massacre friend asking to have the damages repaired. if that doesent work, then get out the legal stuff...

Well, good think I didn't have to park on the street today. High speed chase by the cops down my street... the guy they were chasing was hauling ***. I'm sure my car would have been at more risk parked on the street today.
Sorry about your car! You can always organize an FD meet in front of his house... Have a 100 FDs and owners surround his house, wear black leather, drink beer, brake bottles, play loud music and chant till he hands over the randsom money...

but i seriously doubt it's possible to get 100 FD's in that close of a radius together.

Every state is different, but if it happened to me here in The People's Republic of California, my homeowner's insurance policy would cover damages and Allstate, my insurance carrier, would go after my neighbor for remuneration. This is not speculation on my part. I have turned a compensation issue involving my car being damaged while parked in my driveway over to my homeowner's insurance in the past. You may wish to inform your neighbor ahead of time in case he/she wishes to handle it before your insurer does. That would be to his/her advantage, because I know going through my insurer is a lot more expensive than if the problem were resolved with "out of pocket" money.
Hopefully you are "made whole" (which includes rental expenses of a like vehicle) quickly.

Need to clean these forums out of crapheads. everytime someone starts a topic some *** has to jump and and tear him down. The dudes car just got trashed while parked on his own property. Give him a break. And if you got a smartazz comment how bout you click on a different link and chuckle to yourself cuz you are so much smarter than us all.
Sorry bout your car bro. Sucks royal. you need to call the cops so it gets documented and pictures taken ASAP. without the documentation it's tough to do anything. take your documentation and file in small claims court for the damages. get a few estimates etc; don't need a lawyer. Good luck

about time to update the avatar Jim....how about a roller rocker or something like that?

Not too mention the fact that no matter where your car is, it's always in danger.
