what wires am i looking at?
At first glance these look like seperate wires, but on closer inspection it appears that they are the same wire as they both are black with a red hash marks every inch or so. Their path is traced in blue. The white connector seems to match the low coolant buzzer connector, but I have no clue where the black connector goes. I saw a picture in another thread that pointed out that the black connector goes to the power steering or ac. But since both of these wires look to be the same wire im thinking that it connects to the low coolant buzzer and the black connector connects to the body loom, but didnt see any obvious match.
Also, are the oil and water sensor wires also body wires and not part of the wire loom?
click for bigger. picture is a bit crappy.

workshop manual should tell you since they look to be original.. look for the color chart and I think the one on the left is black and orange? Start there and you may run into the other one. Sorry I don't have any info other then that.. the pic is hard to folow those wires and my manual is at home.
Aeka GSR,
On page Z-114 of my 1994 RX-7 workshop manual, I found 4 separate cases of black wire with orange stripe which terminates in a single-terminal connector. They are "daisy-chained" through the 3 airbag D-sensors. It's difficult to explain how they are connected in text; if you send me an e-mail at wstrohm@socal.rr.com, I will scan these pages of the FWM and attach them in a reply to you.

Aeka GSR,
I have 2 manuals, a small and a large. The small one is titled "Mazda RX-7 1994 Workshop Manual." That is the one with section "Z" in it, which contains the wiring diagrams having the wires in which you are interested. (The large one is titled ""Mazda RX-7 1994 Body Electrical Troubleshooting Manual.")

these ones available online? Id like to see the sections for myself, not that I dont belive you, but I just want to be beyond a resonable doubt as to what you are telling me. If they are what you say they are, then I see no wire connection for the low coolant buzzer.

I cannot tell the color code of the one on the right; it is covered by a sleeve of plastic tubing. It is in about the right place for a water temperature sensor wire, though.
Re the low coolant level sensor: My manual says (on page Z-42) that the wires going to the coolant level sensor are brown with a white stripe all the way from the instrument panel, through the front harness, through the engine harness, through the emissions harness, and to the sensor itself, where it changes to a black wire.
I have no idea whether these manuals are the same as the ones online. I bought them from the Mazda parts department when I bought our RX-7, in September of 1994.
As I wrote in my first reply, I will send you a copy of the pages if you send me an e-mail.

yeah its part of that harness, but the wire doesnt go near the ecu, it just uses that loom for packaging convenience.

I removed all the crap from my engine harness and I think I might have removed the line for the coolant level sensor!
It black one connects to a female connector that looks exactly alike , it is located on the harness with the battey terminal. It is the coolant level conector. I just went through hell trying to find it. There are 3 connections for the coolant level, the one in front on the water pump housing, the second behind and below the thermo switch and the black spade connect that connect the two harnesses.
